Day 1

Hi, everyone!  Glad to be able to join you all in this challenge.

First day, wanna show you my trusted Mora Bushcraft survival.  Got this knife many years ago, and had been my one of my most trusted outdoor knives ever since.

It has a good ferro rod and sharpening stone on the sheath, and the knife is perfect balanced at where the index finger is.  Combined with a nicely contoured soft handle, I could use this knife hours at end, and never blistered.  I put bright red duct tape all over it, since this is one thing I absolutely don't want to lose in the woods.

My only Kneck knife with a sheath that allows many carry options
It's an older CRKT, etched on the blade is Carson Design F4-12, using Google it comes up as vintage I know It's been a number of years since I bought it, but Vintage  :dunno:

Of course it is
Great knife! I have smaller hands so it's full 4 finger handle, good ergonomics, easy to sharpen, hard to get dull, small sheath so it is easy to carry.
I love it!

Good start everyone  :tu:

Day 1

Little one to start off with, a nice Sunday knife,

F.M.Mattsson (Frost Matts Mattsson), company started in 1865 making things from brass,  bells, brooches,  bits for Mora clocks etc then soon moved onto making taps and faucets, in 1917 they started producing knives and that continued till 1961 when they decided to cease knife production and concentrate on taps, they were after all the first to introduce ceramic seals, frost proof garden valves, soft closing lever mixers and thermostatic mixing valves so they know their stuff, company still in business today.

Another maker K.J Eriksson which had been in the business since 1912 didn't want any other company to benefit from the closure of the FMM knife factory so bought the whole factory stock, workshop and tools in 1962.

Nice choices guys :like:

Day 1:

Got a couple of neck knives ready for the month :tu:
CRKT Minimalist and CRKT Cordite Compact
The Minimalist will be my work carry because the handle is easier to clean considering the dirty environment it will be in.
The Cordite will be after work and weekend carry(might take some other knife out if I'm out for a longer time in the woods)

Never carried a neck knife so this will be interesting

No uses today as we are in the middle of a thunderstorm right now.
Had to run home from the woods with my dog earlier

Oooh, lovely start, guys!  :like:

This is going to be a fun challenge, for sure.  I'm headed up to Canada for a couple days and have to chose from a couple of fixies for the trip.  At the border, the customs guys always want to know if you have a knife, but then they don't really seem to care when you say "yes, I've got a couple here...."  :dunno:

Still, I don't want to lose a knife at the border, so I won't be choosing one of my more sentimental knives.  :D

Had a firm decision on what I was going to use,  until last night.  Woke up this morning undecided again.

I'll figure it out by the time my granddaughter comes today.

Right you are, sir.
I'll at least start out with the Ka-Bar/Becker Remora.
First duty was to finish cutting the quesadilla that the boss lady brought home for lunch.  I do worry when fast food cooks can't even cut through a tortilla shells loaded with melted cheese.

Day: 01

Went for a hike today, great way to start the challenge. Today I was carrying a knife I made myself: 1095 blade, walnut scales.

Wandered off-trail and found myself scrambling up some scree, following and old fence line:

Some nice views from the top:

Things look pretty dry right now, but that is fairly normal for this time of year.  Went on to climb this distant peak, as well:

Glad I brought some extra water!   :tu:
