Help for Classic SD vs Signature
on: May 23, 2019, 09:44:51 PM
Hi guys
I'm new here, I discovered the forum by randomly doing research to buy my first Victorinox.
In a few days I bought two 58 mm Rallies and a Waiter, I like the size of 58 mm and 84 mm :-)
Now I would like to buy a Classic SD (58 mm) with scissors but on my Amazon there is also the possibility of buying the same but with the pen (Signature model) the difference is only 50 cents.
I looked at the features, the Signature version is identical but only 2 mm taller.
Height 11 mm Length 58 mm Weight 23 g while the Classic SD is: Height 9 mm Length 58 mm Weight 21 g
Who bought both? Can you help me choose? The pen is a good thing but it increases the size.
Any suggestions are welcome!
(sorry for the translation, I write with Google Translate)
Thanks

Don't have a Signature, but I've used the pen on my Midnite MiniChamp a number of times. If the prices are that close, I'd probably go with the Signature.

Welcome to MTO  :tu:

I haven't bought a Signature before, but a similar comparison exists between the Rambler and Manager. I picked the Manager, and the increased bulk is negligible.

Ultimately though, it come down to which tools you prefer to carry - a pen and tweezers, or toothpick and tweezers.

Thanks for the two answers
I find the tweezer useful.
If I understand correctly, the pen is inserted instead of the toothpick.
I have seen videos where I see, however, that the toothpick is provided in the box.
2 mm of difference are few but I asked myself if these do not alter the beauty and comfort of a small Vic

For me, a large part of the beauty, is the ability to fix life's problems :D which would save the day more often for you, pen or toothpick?

You will not find the extra 2mm uncomfortable, and while the scales will be asymmetrical in thickness (the pen scale is thicker than the tweezer scale), I do not think it ruins the look either. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though, so I cannot say which YOU will prefer the looks of

Thanks, you convinced me.
Now I buy the Vic Signature in red color for 16.95 euros.
Next time I will also buy the Classic SD version, these little Vic's are like "a disease" (I've already booked a Rambler but it will arrive in late June or mid-July)

Thank you very much!

When I have the Signature model maybe I can insert a photo here, it could help the reader make a choice.
I hope to buy the Classic SD model soon so I can take a picture of them nearby.

I agree, but this pandemic is better than that of flashlights that cost around 70/100 euros :-)

Hi and Welcome.  I'm glad you chose the Signature.  I have the Manager and really appreciate the pen.  Its has come in handy so many times.  The 2mm is negligible to me vs the convenience of that pen.

I could have also bought the Manager, I like it because it is very complete but at 18 euros it is only available in blue, In red it would have cost much more.
I wanted to go to the Classic version because I think that those who love this brand must necessarily also have a Classic version.
It is still expensive, with the money from a Rally or Classic SD you can buy a Spartan but I love the 58 mm small format too.

I also really like the 58mm.  They are great for the keychain, 5th pocket of jeans ( Levis ), shirt pocket, necklace/lanyard, or just about any where.  I haven't run into a Signature but when I do ( I hunt at the local fleamarket ) I will be sure to pick one up.  That pen is just so useful.
