Back when I was doing locksmith work, I did not want to scratch the often expensive wood, metal and glass surfaces. I started using paracord pocket clips. They need to be tied precisely to function and be durable. If not tied properly they will flex and fold at the bend. I like to boil the paracord clips after making them and then sun dry. It makes for a very rigid clip. Not for everyone, just food for thought.
Several lengths can be made for different pocket depths and easy to color coordinate with fabric colors.
