Pocket clip anti-scratch solution
on: May 25, 2019, 07:09:00 PM
Has anyone come up with a solution to carry the tools/knives in the front pocket but stop the clip from scratching car doors?

I thought about heatshrink tubing, or just slear tubing, but thought of asking here to see what other solutions could be there.

Maybe melting some plastic and dipping the edge?

Can't really help, I almost 99% of the time carry in pocket.  But will carry it towards the front of the pocket less likely to scratch the car?

Rope dip might work, but the first thing I thought of was also shrink wrap tubing.

Back when I was doing locksmith work, I did not want to scratch the often expensive wood, metal and glass surfaces.  I started using paracord pocket clips. They need to be tied precisely to function and be durable. If not tied properly they will flex and fold at the bend. I like to boil the paracord clips after making them and then sun dry. It makes for a very rigid clip. Not for everyone, just food for thought.

Several lengths can be made for different pocket depths and easy to color coordinate with fabric colors.

I like using the Titan Survivorcord as a practical cord for mine.

Never seen that done before.

That is a great idea.

They work well for me. There is also the McGizmo, Don McLeish method. Adding rings to pockets as suspension clips. Works great too. Absolutely, no scratches or lost items.
