... :twak: ok, let's give this a try, a little early, but wanted to claim the month.
Explorer may be big for some but it's kinda in the middle, size wise, know what I mean...

This will be really funny to watch! The explorer is an amazing SAK and the one I want to love but I just can't. It's just over the border in thickness and it's just as much.. I changed out the scissor for the saw and hit the sweetspot just right.

Might sound redicoulous but that small different in thickness did the trick. I have had 3 explorers and modded one, gave one away and used one to farm parts.

The one I giftet I actually used the other day and my feelings are the same, wonderful tool but a tad to thick

But I will joyfully watch this challenge

[It's not failure if you learn something from it]

I'm going to think about it, Kottseykrappa's just articulated my thoughts on the Explorer perfectly... well, sort of:

I've got one Explorer left and I'm soooo close to modding it. If it's still intact by July, then count me in!  :2tu:

I went for it and grabbed one, cheap, off of eBay.

Be here in a few days...

I thought it looked neat. It “spoke” to me...

That's actually my Dad's birth year. And the scales are cool too. I have an Explorer, so count me in. I may, however, get an older version with the gray magnifier expressly for the challenge. The Explorer was what really got me into SAKs--a friend of mine had a BSA model.

Sadly, not my birth year, you all are youngsters.

Wow. My birth year too!!!

So I dove deep into my box of SAKs last night. Low and behold, I found not one but two old style Explorers. They've definitely seen plenty of adventures, but still have lots of life left in them.

Unfortunately, I'll be away camping in the mountains for 2 weeks in August, and won't have daily Internet access, so I won't be able to take part in the challenge. But I'll be with you in spirit. The Explorer is one of my all-time favorite SAKs.
