I, too, love a good radish. Especially with a little salt. Mrs Nix, however, does not. I've found that men are more likely to like radishes more than women.

I don't understand this observation. Anyone else see this? Or is my sample size too small to be making generalization?

I think it may be somthing of a generational and county vs. city thing.  Both of my Grandmothers and my Mom like radishes but my Wife and Sons don't.  Maybe we should start a larger survey.  Mrs. Douglas only grows them for me.  Just one of the many ways she proves the great blessing she is...

I think there's something to this. My instinct is that chaps tend to prefer strong flavours (such as a curry) whilst chapesses don't. And of course there are exceptions. I'd be interested if there was some science behind it but I doubt I know more than you Nix. Instead I do know I've been 57 miles on my road bike today and none of them required the use of my Black Explorer

Very nice trip! I usually do 50 on the Silver Comet trail in Georgia. But now that I am in Florida, I need to see what trails are available. Enjoy :tu:

Thanks Ray and Barry. I've saved you the horror of what I looked like after this. The bike looked tidier than I did but the weather was great anyway. Went to a regular cafe in Lavenham that we visit and the weather was just spot on in their garden for some cake and cycling banter :like:

We have a large biking community here, with decent paths and beautiful views.  I'm riding a reproduction Schwinn 6 speed, red and looking art deco as can be!  I'm hoping to upgrade to a lighter, smoother road bike in the future, but for now I stand out like a '59 Cadillac!

I blasted off a few rounds at a local indoor range last night.
I stash the new shells separately and i had to pry open the paint can this am.
Cue the explorer  :)

Range time is now about 4th on list of fun things to do. As many years I have done it, its dropped some. Never thought I would say that but it has. Enjoy!

Day: 04

You know how it goes..... I'm fiddling around with the new vintage Explorer (destined to become the TOE) when I decide that the blades need to be sharpened up. Nevermind that the blades are destined for the spare parts bin...... They are dull and should be sharpened up.

A little time with diamond stone and strop and the blades are back to hair-shaving sharp. I'm always delighted with the ease of restoring a SAK's edge.

But, now that the blades are functioning......... I decide I'll carry the vintage Explorer today while I'm doing a couple of projects.....

I've dropped a little weight and my favorite belt is a bit too big. Instead of drilling an extra hole in the tongue, I decide to move the buckle back.

First, the flathead is used to remove the bolts holding the belt together

Then the pen blade is used to cut a new slot for the buckle's post to ride in (using the previous bolt holes as a guide):

So far so good. The awl was used to cut two perfect new holes for the bolts:

Reassembled and ready for action:

The bolt nearest the buckle might need a washer, but I'm using the belt as is, now.   :tu:

Not much to report from today, only used the tweezers to remove a couple of annoying ear hairs - I'll spare you the sight. :)

Had a nice conversation with a TSA agent today.

Here's the short of it:

TSA doesn't mind knives, but the airlines prohibit knives on board aircraft. TSA just enforces those rules.

An awl has a sharpened edge, and therefore considered to be a 'knife'. And it's a pokey thing.

A SAK that has obviously been 'tampered with', e.g. modded, will certainly be closely examined and might be seized.

Bladeless Leatherman tools are recommended.

So it looks like the TOE will have a corkscrew instead of an awl.......  :-\
