I lost count of how many usb sticks, pens and flashlights he has in there.  :D
At least his bag of toiletries is sane!
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

No kidding, just looking at the pen case is perplexing to me.  It's like having a back up to a back up to a back up of a pen.  :o :D

One thing I can never understand is how do people carry their field notes like scrap paper?  Maybe it is my OCD speaking, I tried it in the past but just can't seem to get over it.  In comparison, I'd like my rite-in-rain a little better, since it has a plastic backing to it.

He belt carries one if I'm not mistaken.

I think sometimes he does.  In the video I included he gives the impression he's a minimalist.  By the looks of that bag and contents

I also noticed this. I have seen him work on Mythbusters with a wave and hyneman with a Swisstool. I definitely thought he would have one with him.
Though in his pocket dump nor his bag is one.
He did make a video about making a folded metal 1-finger release belt Sheath for his wave.
Maybe he has it with him but doesn't see it as in his pockets since Officially it isn't.

I think that's probably is the best description, extreme redundancy, but not necessarily best prepared.

It's a bit hypocritical of him considering a few years ago, he did a video on Tested, saying he didn't really do EDC

You know how all these TV personalities could be so different on or off camera, it kinda reminded me about Grylls staying in hotel while pretending roughing it on survival shows(you'd probably read this):

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1558242/Bear-Grylls-faked-Channel-4s-Born-Survivor.html

I won't be too surprised if some of those items are staged...or not permanent on his 'EDC' rotation.

Of course it's staged, but honestly it's not even a great bag. Stuff is going to move around all over the place. It's kind of a stand out colour (I've got a black messenger bag but the interior is orange, nothing gets lost). If you want to make some money then at least be honest about that.

Very interesting article, but I think me and him would be like matter and anti-matter when it comes to EDC approach.

A bag with no pockets? Strictly for the birds!

Twenty pens and pencils, ten memory sticks and four torches but no SAK?? He's carrying around a ton of repetitive junk but missing the most essential item yet devised by mankind  :ahhh

Dude, carry one of each item, make it a good one, and only carry a spare if it's something you absolutely rely on

Not that I am at all dogmatic on this subject  :-[

Wasn't he always more on the art side of the things and not so much on the technical side? I thing Jamie would have much more rational edc...  :D

Twenty pens and pencils, ten memory sticks and four torches--the only time that's in my bag is when companies give them away at tradeshows. No need to carry all that. Two each pens and pencils; maybe two memory sticks, and ONE flashlight (maybe two if you're carrying one on your keys as well) alongside batteries and/or chargers they use.  My bag typically has those things, plus a backup multitool or knife to the one I'm carrying.

I think he said he doesn’t carry a multitool normally because he’d lost too many Leatherman tools to TSA. I would have at least pliers and a screwdriver with some duct tape and paracord though.
