SAk Tools rubbing / grinding on backspring
on: June 08, 2019, 12:53:56 AM
Hi all,

Question for those doing SAK torx mods or ones with mods...

I have a torx converted SAK I’ve been making and the main blade grinds (makes e a grindin noise too) on the backspring. When I took it apart the blade and backspring had rub marks and there was metal dust inside.

Anyone know what causes the issue? Is it the hole in the tools are off? Or the hole in the scale where the pivot comes through is slightly off? Other?

What’s the fix? Will the knife and backspring eventually grind together until they fit perfectly and no more grindIng?

Thanks!

Grinds usually come from grit getting in during assembly.
Dismantle, polish the contact areas, wipe everything down, assemble and lubricate.
If you've drilled the tools then yes it could be an alignment problem.
