Day 26

Today, as well as this challenge, seemed to go fast.  Used the Ranger to cut a piece of banana bread.

A bonus glamour shot

Day 25, with a BuckTool BuckLite. POS. Right handle is really floppy, and so far, whacking the pin with a ball-peen hammer ain't helping.

I bought this one because it was cheaper. I didn't notice that a little bit further down in the Etsy listings was a near mint one from a seller I deal with a lot for just $8 more. D'Oh!  Figure I'll go ahead and buy that one, saving this one for parts to rebuild other BuckTools. Still though, neither of my PSTs for the PST challenge cost me the nearly $30 this one did.

Day 26

I am in process of stripping and putting a patina on my BK2.  At one point I was so tempted to use the Ranger to help scrap off the coating, but it would probably ruin the edge of the knife real good.  So I end up cheating with a plastic paint scrapper to help get the coating off.

Oddly warm here this week. Some freezing over night, but, if you mess around inside for a while, by the time you go out, the ice is melting off.

No, I'm not a procrastinator. Not yet, anyway. I'm working on that.   ;)

I've got a BK-2 around here somewhere. I've never really come to terms with it. I stripped the coating off (don't like that stuff) and blued the steel. I will say, being 1095 it takes a wicked nice edge. And I love the way the BK line has big handles that are easy to remove and replace.

I think the BK-2 was based off the old British MOD survival knife. The MOD had a 7" blade, which makes more sense to me for a general purpose digging, prying, batonning, coconut-chopping tool. The BK-2 is ....5"?

British MOD knife (not actual size)

There is an inherent appeal to a knife designed to "field dress a Buick", but when I step back and really look at it, it seems too thick for a short knife, to short for a batonning knife, too heavy for a pack knife. I suspect that's the reason it's here but I don't know exactly where......

I think my favorite of the BK line is the awesome BK-5, but the BK-9 is a real worker, too. I kept the BK-5 in my kitchen for a while, it does good work and makes a quick job of slicing a cooked brisket or field dressing a cabbage.

Day 26 - Quiet Sunday!
Youngest granddaughter visited, and did some reading. No real action for my 112.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!
