Day 0:

I am really looking forward to this challenge. I have several Rangers, but they never seem to get as much pocket time as they deserve. Some of you know of my love of the Buck 110. This means that the 110's little brother, the 112, doesn't get the pocket time it deserves. This challenge will remedy that, at least for a month.....

I have a buddy in Texas who swears by the Buck 112 Ranger. It is the only knife he carries. He doesn't understand the need for anything else. I doubt that I'll be converted to his degree of fanaticism, but I am 100% sure I won't be busy missing my 110's during this challenge. The Ranger is a hugely-capable, little knife and appropriately named, because, after all....

(I had the chance to work with some guys from 75th Ranger:  "hard as nails" and the most bad-assed light infantry on the planet.  :salute:)

After some deliberation, I decide to go with a stock, no-frills, Buck 112 for this challenge:

This is a plain-Jane, 420HC, Buck 112 with Rosewood scales and brass bolsters. It's built like an MRAP and is hair-shaving sharp. There is no challenge I wouldn't attempt with this bulldog of a knife.

 :viking:   Bring it on!!!   :viking:

very very nice!
The grain on the scales is very special. And love the finger grip style of your knife.
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Day 01

This is my first Buck Ranger so will start out with it. I consider it my HSLD Ranger. It's light has multiple carry and deployment options. Had coffee and ready to roll.

Day 01:

Adventure Boy is starting to show his age. He's over 14 years-old now and some days he is a bit stiff and sore.

Actual dog, NOT a pile of compost, pictured here with a Buck 112

He takes a canine anti-inflammatory on the tougher days, but only needs a 1/4 tablet. The 112 got pressed into service today quartering his meds:
