Nylon pouches - any significant differences?
on: June 13, 2019, 02:57:37 PM
Hello all.  A new member to the forum.  Really interesting place.  Got a question on pouches.

I have a SWK, Climber model.  I've been intending to get a belt pouch for years and this morning actually got as far as looking at the Victorinox accessories page.  There's two nylon pouches there: the olive one at 135mm and the black one at 122mm (bound seams, small silver badge).  It says that both have hook and loop fasteners.  Only the olive one states as having "belt loop with velcro".

Questions.

Will both of these take a Climber?

Any thooughts on relaitve merits?

Does the "belt loop with velcro" mean the velcro is on the belt loop, which would make it much easier to switch between belts?

Are there any circumstances where leather pouches better than nylon?  I'd probably rather have nylon than leather, but I'm not too adamant about it.

Many thanks.

Links to the actual items would help.

The Climber is 91mm in length.

What country are you in?

The OD green one is for 111mm and bigger knives; while sold for the even larger Hunter Pro.  The velcro on the belt loop is to allow it to be attached to pretty much anything; as it serves as both an attachment to things like gear racks on ATVs or MOLLE attachments on backpacks and other military gear.  It's vinyl-coated nylon; and in addition to being in the woods, survived lots of wipe-downs with Clorox wipes when I was having to ride the bus to the community college for my area.

Thanks for that.  Sounds like that's not the pouch for me then.  My Climber would probably get lost at the bottom of it.  I think I need to find somewhere that I can get a look at them all.  The Victorinox wesite suggests there's a fair number of stockists around here (Sheffield) so I;ll go a-browsing this weekeend.
