Any US members can help a UK member please?
on: April 30, 2019, 08:22:26 AM
Hi guys - here in the UK we cannot buy/sell (MT's = knives) on eBay UK so I have various times bought via my eBay.com US account and found a US seller willing to ship here.

I need a used Rebar for a project and really struggling this last few weeks to find anyone who will ship and at a reasonable cost.  Most want $24 which seems nuts - here in the UK a LM weight package sent economy Air (no tracking etc) is about $6 to send via my business account with Royal Mail!

Is there anyone who can help please by receiving a US eBay purchase and sending it on with me covering costs?  I'd need a quote for the most basic Air (no tracking etc - I'll take the risk).

Please PM if you can assist.

Thanks guys.   .
Max.

International shipping from the US does seem to be pricey. $24 might be the best rate you can get for First Class package shipping.  Sorry.  :-[

Really is that much then guys?  I have not checked on any US calculators - not familiar with them.!  But is USPS the only way?  And they don't offer an economy airmail service without tracking or signature?

Just seem mad to charge so much for a small relatively light parcel...?!

First-Class Package International is $14.25 if you can keep the weight down under 8 oz.

I haven't found anything less expensive than, USPS First Class.  :dunno:

As Hiraethus said, $15 is possible if it's quite light. But that means the entire package: Rebar + materials.

If you want to send it to me, I can try to put it in a padded envelope and get it in for the $15 rate (rates went up in Jan'19, so I think it's closer to $15).  But....a Rebar weighs about 7oz without any oil. Add an envelope.....its going to be over 8oz......

Ooops, my screen shot was for "mail", but the same applies for "packages".

UPS, FED EX, DHL.....those are usually twice the USPS rate.

$24 sounds about right, I don't think you'd be able to get a Rebar shipped to you for less. Also, if you're not careful, you'll get stung with import duty and Royal Mail admin fees, another £11, so remember the parcel must be marked with a value less than $19 on the customs slip or you'll get humpt.

What about sending it in bits?

Hey guys, good news - finally managed to make a purchase of a nice used Reba at a very good price with cheap shipping from the US so hopefully I can finally complete the mod to my Wave (using the Reba awl etc: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,81167.msg1915394.html#msg1915394 ).

What are you planning to take out of the wave to put the awl in?

I actually took the can opener and it was a direct drop in.

Also. Did you know you could buy just the awl or almost any other part from loki_mobile in this forum?

Does anybody here still need help from a Yank?
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Check what the shipping from Canada is. If it works out, I'll do it for you.
