Cap Crimper Discontinued?
on: June 14, 2019, 03:05:07 AM
I noticed that on the Leatherman site, that the Surge and Wave no longer have blasting cap crimper pliers variants. Of course, the Wave since it's now the Wave+, but the Surge hasn't been changed. So, have cap-crimpers been discontinued on all but the specialized EOD models?  Aside from the MUT EOD and ST300 EOD, only a couple Charge variants still have blasting cap crimpers.

If you look in the right places, you can still find em, albeit a little overpriced: https://www.amazon.com/LEATHERMAN-Crimper-Multitool-Stainless-Steel/dp/B079MJ7TC3

In all honesty, I can say that I have never used cap crimpers for their intended use. They can occasionally come in handy, but only for a restricted array of generic crimping tasks, I'd say. I can understand manufacturers wanting to cut that particular manufacturing corner when they don't expect any use.
Cheers!
