Ahhh the swing guard style knife, or as it is more affectionately known, the Cheetah, is still a knife that catches my eye. Swing guard knives have been around for a long time, and they are still fairly popular with a lot of knife enthusiasts. I will admit, the swing guard is one heck of a handy accessory, preventing the fingers from sliding forward onto the blade, and for an outdoorsman, with hands slick from blood, water or other slick substances, this can be just what the doctor ordered...literally.
The actual name "Cheetah" was attributed to Case swing guard knives in the 1970's
Here are a few of my own Cheetah's. Top to bottom: Case Cheetah Cub, Case Cheetah, Schatt and Morgan 1L, and the AG Russell FH-4.
