This hurts me deeply.
Interesting that they copied the lock from the Vic 111 knives. Other than that and the shiny scales it looks spot on.
Wenger used same lock on Ranger series. Not sure who copied who.
Uh, not at all. Wenger used the liner-lock, but Victorinox -- the slide-lock.
I call the lock on my older Rangers a slide lock, as opposed to the button lock on later Rangers.
Old Rengers used this slide lock. Same as old 111mm. More info and pics on North's site. We should probably update the licking systems page, but I don't have any of the old Rangers for pics or disassembly to show how it works. https://www.sakhome.com/304372150
Dude look at the eBay link. This knife has the same style lock “Wenger liner lock” as a Ranger. It does not have the Vic “slide lock”.
I think the person who mentioned was purely commenting on the slide switch on the side of knife. Not the mechanism.
Ya it has “sliding lock release button”. That was shared between Wenger and Vic, even though the actual lock mechanism was different.

Wenger Locking SystemsLiner Lock IThe Wenger 120mm Ranger series models were the first Swiss Army Knives to use a liner-lock mechanism. They featured a sliding lock release button on the side of the knife, very similar to the Victorinox slide-lock button, however the mechanism is completely different. When the button is pulled back a nub under the button engages with a nub in the liner which pulls on the liner to disengage the lock on the blade.

Actually they are different internally. The switch is same, but inside knife the Vic slides something into back of blade, similar to back-spring lock. While the Wenger sliders grabs a liner lock and pulls it away from under the blade.
Edit: I realize we are both saying the same thing.
Let's use a quote from the SAKWiki: SourceAs for me, the information in the SAKWiki is correct. There is also a link to my ugly photo of the Wenger Old Ranger 120 mm lock mechanism in the SAKWiki. Perhaps someone will take a better quality photo. (Image removed from quote.)Exactly.
That are my photos of the Vic slide mechanism on the page you linked.
I didn't word it clearly. I meant the button is a slider kind, same as Vics.
Just maybe if someone can take pics of the actual mechanisms, how it works as I did with the Vic. Maybe a modder has one in parts so it shows better.
