I don't have a guess, but I do have some extra info that you may or not be aware of.  Hoffritz at one point found a small. isolated cutlery company named Victorinox and had many models made exclusively for them.  Many of the Hoffritz models were easily identifiable by the serrated main blades, small pen blade replaced by the hawsksbill or pruning blade, as well as Hoffritz stamped on the scales and the tang of the main blade.

Those short handles don't appear to give a person much leverage. I'm thinking you would need to be strong, and have a lot of mussels to operate that thing........

Does it...open up mussel/clam shells?  The blade part is placed in the tiny opening of the shell, and the ribbed bottom 'spoon' holds the shell in place so it won't slide out...and the forked part of the blade would be used to scrape/pull the mussel out.  I can't remember what those types of animals are called...like snails/clams/ etc..there's a scientific term I would have used if I remembered it..

No degree here, just years of playing with tools..

And the fork tip might just be for spearing the contents of the shell and eating it right then and there...I think some cultures do that, although I prefer mine boiled.

I prefer mine made of beef and in a bun with cheese and ketchup...

Really cool tool though!  I wonder when Leatherman will introduce their version?  :laugh:
