what best new Vic scale material?
on: December 09, 2021, 11:14:35 PM
If Victorinox were to introduce a new [production, not exotic, with practical use in mind] scale material, what would you most like to see?

It seems to me that Makrolon would look great on a Rambler, with a brushed finish like the LAMY 2000 pen series.

Other ideas?

Maybe Delrin? It's been used for knife scales for decades. I love the Delrin scales on the USA Old Timer knives. Although, from what I understand, Delrin can degrade faster than ABS (cellidor) under certain conditions.

Makralon can get slippery I find.

One of my thoughts as well.

Although I would love to see Vic bring back the “engine-turned” SS scales.  Some of the nicest they ever made IMO.

I agree with nate j, engine turned (guilloché) scales on a 91mm SAK would be neat.
You should seriously visit vicfan.com. All the hoopy froods are doing it.

Stainless and G10 sound good to me.

Probably not gonna happen, but I’d like a G10 basket weave pattern or some other texture.

As a dedicated Ti fan, I already have a few after market set of Ti scales, but an in-house version would also appeal!

This probably excludes Titanium, which is my favorite.

Given that: Nylon or Cellidor. Cellidor wins in looks, but Nylon is more durable.
