Hey all.
I'm going to post this here instead of messing up the “Bustin' out the traditionals, a 30-day challenge” thread.

I buckled over on a Saturday back in May and went to see a nurse practitioner, Who sent me for a CT scan, and from there they sent me directly to the ER in Nashville.
Vanderbuilt confirmed it was pancreatic cancer that had spread to the liver.
I thought I could finish the challenge but between the cancer the chemotherapy and the pain meds there are just days where I just don't feel like doing smurf.

I was really hoping to get over what Steve might call my unnatural aversion of patina. I even started a pre patina on the bullnose by cutting sausage.
My apologizes to everyone for not finishing.
Remember I still need entertainment, so I'll be watching and expecting great things from the thread.
Good luck on the challenge.

I'm very sorry to hear you are dropping out, Dean.

I, for one, always value your thoughts, knowledge, and comments. However, given what you are dealing with, I completely understand. No question, chemo is tough. Dealing with pancreatic cancer is a tough fight.

You've got a difficult situation to deal with, and your focus should definitely be on taking care of yourself and those you cherish. Nevertheless, I do hope you will stay in touch as much as you are able, because we like having you around!

All the best, I'll be sending good vibes your way.   :tu:

With a great-aunt having end-stage lung cancer; this news really hits close to home.   I hope for the best in your situation.

So sorry you are going through this, Dean. :(

Take it easy and try to stay positive. I can't imagine the situation, but will be sending positive thoughts your way and hope you make it through this. That is a rough diagnosis for sure, but can be seen through.

Once you get feeling better and want to do the traditional challenge again, I'll join in. Maybe some more of us will too.

Just seeing this. I'm very sorry to hear of your diagnosis, Dean. My father had pancreatic cancer too. If they remove your pancreas as they did for my father you will need insulin, and a replacement for the digestive enzymes you won't be producing.  My father's doctor recommended this product, https://www.amazon.com/Vital-Nutrients-Pancreatic-Strength-Digestive/dp/B005HXOBFA which runs about $35.00 a bottle but that is cheaper than the prescription stuff they wanted him on at around $400 a bottle if your insurance won't cover it.  Also, mint or ginger tea was helpful to my father to relieve the nausea from the chemo. I wish you well and you are in my prayers.  You can beat this.

I'm just now reading this and I'm so sorry buddy. Cancer is a MFer that has no heart - but don't you give in even on the worst days. F that big C every chance you get. My mom, RIP, beat stage 4 years ago and managed to stay in remission for quite a while and so can you.

Get well my friend.
