Use of the blades on the executive.
on: July 12, 2019, 04:51:36 PM
As a former Case peanut devotee, I tend to use the executive the same way.
With two blades on hand, I tend to use the smaller pen blade as a do-it-all blade for dirty  deeds, like cutting open bags of mulch, dealing with he infernal plastic blister packaging that is meant to defy tooth and nail and high explosive.

The longer main blade tends to beheld in reserve, for dealing with cutting a sandwiching half for my dainty better half, cutting a piece of cheese off the Guida to go with the slice of baguette while sitting on a blog in the woods, and in case of alien invasion. I used the peanut just like that, and the executive seems to be in that same ilk. So many years of using the classic as a first line cutter let me understand how a small blade can handle a heck of a lot. So the man blade of the executive is my "clean" blade for food use.

How do you use yours? I know we have a lot of executive fans here, inspired by Chuck Yeager.
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

I think I use mine in much the same way.   :iagree:

The small blade and orange peeler gets used to open packaging, snip string, trim small things. The larger blade get reserved more often for food related tasks. I'm not strict about that, but those are my general habits.

And let's not forget those scissors. Love the size of the 74mm scissors. They fill in some gaps for the small blade and get used to trim fishing knots, etc.....

As a total tool set, the Executive gives one a lot of options for cutting tasks. Little wonder the General found it to be so handy and sufficient!  :tu:

I dug out my Exec today, to carry instead of my nearly ever present Classic. I like that there's a blade sticking out the right way when I have it on my keychain. Less of an issue when pocket carried, but that's fine.

Anyhoo, I don't reserve one blade for this or that task. If it's on my pocket, both blades are probably dirty anyway. I tend to wipe them off if I cut something messy, anyway. I do tend to use the longer blade more often. Dunno why, just do. The short blade is the 'on the keychain' blade, I guess.

The cigar punch is the best and most unique thing on the 74mm knife pattern. Sorry orange peeler you’ve been bested.
