Like many or most, the LM PST was my first multitool. I gave it away after acquiring a SOG Paratool and then a LM Wave. At the time, it seemed like I didn't need it, but I've long regretted getting rid of the PST.

I'll go hunt one down for this challenge. Time to put a few things right........

I dismantled my PST II to mod, and lost a couple pieces. But, I'm in; provided I get another. The PST is really good for it's function to weight ratio. They are good tools. I know a guy who owns one so old, it doesn't have date codes, and he's carried it since the tool was new. The PST is great in that it's the same size and weight as a pocket knife, but contains the right tools to perform an emergency mechanical repair. I really liked carrying my PST II, but never had a PST. They're still occasionally found cheap on eBay, so I guess time to pick one up.

To me, the MPT is a true ripoff. I feel Gerber created it specifically to keep LM from getting the military contract. Who knows what we'd be seeing today if LM had secured the contract.

I still dun quite get how the MPT was awarded the contract.. Dun get me wrong, I do kinda like the MPT but its a real pain to use...

Is swapping blade for SOG saw qualify?... I’m thinking still thinking of making me PST knifeless

I'm thinking no. I think maybe we should keep it to tool swaps between PST and PST II, like the awl and PE blade swap.

I managed to get my hands on a PST only recently, a couple of months ago, but fell in love with it instantly, and it didn't take long for me to hunt down a PST II as well, as scissors are a must for me. Love that too. Count me in!

Right... in preparation for this, I've swapped the original phillips driver back into my favourite PST  (I'd previously put in a newer offset one). The blades reprofiled, but that was a repair for a broken tip, but I do have a spare clip-point I can swap in. I take it that's okay?

I think... I may be a bit premature with my preparations...

The PST is the granddaddy of all Leathermans so count me in! PSTs got me going on this forum and I have a few that I can put into service for the challenge. Easy for me to EDC at the office due to it’s smaller size.

I guess I should verify my ‘96 PST is eligible??

I carried it from 1996 to 2002, maybe 2004? When I got my first Wave (still have it...) I carried it instead of my PST.

Back in those days I never wore a belt and needed a way to clip the PST to my pocket, so I welded one on.

The clip has been on it since late 1996...

Is this allowed?  The rest of the tool is bone stock.

Thanks, Nix!

I would do it different now. Too many other clips available these days. But in 1996, I just pulled that clip from some old Buck knife.

PST platform works well for a clip. Did a PST II mod for a customer, but have kept my small collection original. Have already picked out a PST and PST II for the challenge. Looking forward to it Steve!  :salute:
