Day 04:

Busy day for the little PST.

I managed to jab a dozen or so splinters into the little finger of my right hand. I tried using the blade of the PST to scrape them out, which worked to a degree......

(Image removed from quote.)

Now where is a SAK with T&T........   ;)

Later, I used the can opener to get at some chopped tomatoes to use in a pasta sauce. (Yes, Fuzzy, a Puttanesca sauce, extra-spicy.)

(Image removed from quote.)

A bit to my surprise, this can opener worked amazingly well. I didn't recall these openers working this nicely!  :tu:

Like that poem in the first half

About the LM can opener, these work best for me.
The Vic. ones not as much  :tu:

Homemade pasta, too:

Unfortunately....no capers for the sauce. Otherwise, tons of garlic and good stuff.  I could have rolled the pasta a bit thinner, but Mrs Nix loved it, so awl is well.   :D

It only happens on the very early PST II, Leatherman tweaked the design in later ones. If you happen to get one the scissors are an easy fix, five minutes with a small hobby file. The scissors on these early models had a design flaw which caused the handle to slip past the stop when cutting anything heavier than paper. LM later fixed the problem by putting a bevel on both pieces. I modified these scissors in the same way so they work perfectly.

Yep, mine is definitely a very early piece with 0496 ad 0596 stamps. This looks to be a great fix, I will try it for sure, I just hope I won't smurf up the angles of the bevels! Thanks, Steve!

Day 5

My little one is having a small fever after the flu shot, and the battery on the digital thermometer is dying.  I was so close to pull out a small philips to cheat, since there was no way the larger one will fit.  Then I remember this tiny flat head and it worked like a charm. :D

(Image removed from quote.)

I never had a real use for the tiny flat head  :like:

Hope he'll get well soon!

Very true! I like the handles folding flush on the top...means you can lay something there and will not go anywhere.

And that

When I was carrying a PST II, the scissors struggled with heavy material (i.e clamshell packaging) until I did the mod with a file. I still have it, in pieces minus a few parts (had planned to mod in some SOG parts, and failed, miserably), but I need to put the PST II blade in this PST. The blade was the only tool that seemed to be abused on this too--tip shows signs of having a tiny amount of it broken off, and is badly chipped near the tip.

Day 4: Cut up old paper health insurance card to avoid mistaking it for my current one (AGAIN!).

(Image removed from quote.)

That was good advice from Steve regarding the scissors  :tu:

Hello Day 5
A long boring day driving and in a long long  meeting and some more long driving  so not much chance of any action shots.
In the mean time I had forgotten to take pics of my PST II for my first day 1 pic so out off the shelf she came.

Semper Sitienti !!
