Most BO Leatherman MTs aren't that rare, as LM did make quite a few.  Of the older ones I'd probably rate the BO LM Mini as one of the less common (but someone else may know of others). BO LM MTs often had Cap Crimper pliers (but not always)

I've never seen a BO JPST.

I have a DLC PST (# 527A) which seems to be quite rare, but I have no way of knowing whether the coating was done by LM or by an owner.

Less common than stainless steel, yes but as Greg said not  really rare  I need to get a pic of all my BO tools, as I have gotten quite a few in the last few years and need to see how many I actually have all together ::) :D

I do love a good BO Supertool though :dd: :like:

A lot of the sales of some of these early models were prior to internet sales really kicking off, so a lot of the BO sales were geared toward military PX’s and issued to military units through contracts.

Well I guess in my area they are not common because it's rare to see a discontinued black oxide Leatherman. Most the Leathermans that I have I bought at a pawn shop and a few at gun shows. Out of my 25+ Leathermans I have only one is black oxide.

Greg, you forgot about my one?  ;)

Guilty as charged.  The only defence I can offer is that I'm old and it was 4 years ago ......

It is a truly rare variant, still the only one I've ever seen, so obviously not many were ever made.

I have the feeling that BO Original Supertools do not pop up often on the bay, SS versions are much more common for sure.

I guess you could call the OG BO ST uncommon instead of rare  They can be had but just not as easily as a SS model for sure :salute:

Certain models are way more uncommon than others though as well

Also note that where you are is a big factor. In the US, Leathermans are a lot more common than anywhere else on the planet. I know that a lot of that stuff is unobtanium here in Canada. I was lucky to have been able to buy a lot from the US before Leatherman cracked down on the sales outside of the US. For example, I found a small online retailer that was willing to sell me some military for sale only BO Waves. Even back then, many US retailers would say no to shipping across the border. Depending on where you are, some of this stuff is indeed rare, and not just "uncommon".
A little Leatherman information.
