Is there any interest in doing a Modified SAK or a Discontinued SAK 30 Day Challenge in September?

I noticed that right now the only challenge scheduled for September is a fixed blade challenge.  Not knowing how much conflict of interest there would be, I thought I’d check interests levels for a Swiss Army Knife Challenge.

So are you interested and if so which Challenge would you prefer?

I love to do it with you, but I've already committed to different challenges, except Aug.   The Great PST challenge may take place either Nov or Dec, and it have been decided yet.

Pretty sure the PST challenge is set for December.

If your not committed for August, then you missing out on the Explorer challenge.

As I said earlier, I'm in either way, as I'm ready for the Explorer challenge starting next weekend too.  :tu:

If you could hold it in October, I'd love to participate.  I have a Craftsman and Master Craftsman that would love to play!

I'm almost afraid to ask, but can my CyberChamp Lite join in? It's way OP of course so I won't hold it against anyone who considers it overkill :D

I'll give it a go with my modified Pioneer (added titanium liners and bolsters with ironwood scales).

Do you have a thread in the mod section? Or pics? I may or may not remember your CyberChamp Lite.

If it's not a factory SAK, it's a mod, right?  :tu:

Seeing as I carry a lot of discontinued models (esp. Wengers; and the 84mm Fieldmaster) I think I might just do it. Heck, may even try out my 1942 Soldier. A bit weird carrying that one exclusively--seeing as the can opener really isn't (it's a "tin" opener, not for steel cans) and there is no Phillips screwdriver at all on the knife nor even a flat head that can.  Then there is my old, beat up OC Pioneer. So bad, Victorinox sent it back with a new one. Functionally, it's still a working knife, but the awl is broke and the main blade is bent.

The very first badge I earned was the Discontinued badge with a Wenger Fisherman.  This is a really great time!

October and I'm in!

Just to make sure I understand “by not a factory SAK”, you mean that the base of the the knife came from the factory vs a knife that was built with just pieces and parts of Swiss Army knives into a custom made knife like syph007/SAKModder?  So the difference between mod and custom?

Hey buddy. I think you made this one (the one on the right)  for me years ago when you and I were in SOSAK. Is this one of yours?

Rather mundane quote entered here to approximate humor.

Maybe I should have said

Not made by Victorinox or Wenger but by us and people like Robert, using parts by Victorinox or Wenger (or ...).

The final (or ...) is for people with Spyderco blades on their MiniChamps  :D and the like.

I consider my Syph Buccaneer to be a custom as well as a mod. Basically a Camper with titanium scales and brass liners, there's a 4th layer with Robert's own titanium marlin spike.

Understand now.  I consider my Yeoman knife that I just recently got from Robert both a custom and a Mod (awl instead of hook and Robert’s brass magnifier), but wasn’t sure if it was considered a Mod after reading your post.  Which I fully understand if it isn’t.

I didn’t put October because I am participating in the Crunch Challenge for October plus there is also a Leap and Ax Challenge in October.  If the PST is most likely happening in December, then November could possibly be free, but I don’t know how that would effect others.  Could even potentially do Modified Challenge in September then Discontinued in November if there was interest.

What I have for interest so far is:

1) Sos24
2) Exeter - either
3) Ron Who - Mod
4) Fuzzbucket - Mod
5) Dutch_Tooler - Mod
6) knifecoop - Mod
7) cody6268 - Discontinued

(Barry Rowland - Discontinued if Oct)

Spudley112 - does your picture mean you’re in for a modified challenge?

I'd be in for September with a new Mod, my Not-So-Compact...  😁  Finished it today.

(Image removed from quote.)

Ahhh... I see the confusion. Mine is purely something assembled from existing SAK pieces BUT with an added bushing to fit a 93 mm implement onto a 91 mm pivot. So a mod custom or a custom mod, whichever way you want :D
Cheers!
