Very interesting knives, Comis and kamakiri.

I also wish the partial or even full serration was available on more models.  I almost always have another knife on me with a plain edge, so having a serrated SAK would give more capabilities.

It is a strand of kevlar thread.  I replace the straight pin with a threaded needle and wrap the thread around the corkscrew then use a small piece of straw to hold.

That's a pretty cool setup, sounds like Mezillich would do on his channel!  :D

Yet more great knives and uses! Comis, love that Wenger- are the scales titanium, or stainless steel? Snow - yay! Won’t see any here for a little while yet...

Day 28

Enjoyable post opening duties for Swissair 234k - latest delivery from Switzerland, plus scales in green and yellow for future mod projects! :woohoo:

I think it is brushed steel, but given the hefty weight I doubt it is titanium.  I also did read about it being just planted steel with other metal inside.

Rum flavored beer, Exeter?  Yuck!  Are you absolutely sure you're in good stead with the wife?  Maybe she's trying to poison you. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

Day 28
First picture is just some of my Thanksgiving day feast of fried turkey, whole roasted pig, and spit roasted picanha.
Second picture is leftovers for tomorrow!

Looks like fun and yum!  :like:

:like:  I do like how Wenger utilize the bail, and remembered they have even included the bail for their more modern alox solider.

That make a lot of sense, especially when coupling with a straight edged blade.

Day 28 Nothing much ended up happening today, so a lazy pic with perhaps my only proper shelf queen.

(Image removed from quote.)

Missed a deal on a Wenger Everest just an hour ago, were you perhaps the lucky one this time Antti?

And if so would you be willing to trade for something, I was quite excited about having the biggest and best of the series as my starter. I even  live nearby, so that would eliminate postage.

I was lucky to get it and it was really cheap one, luckily i noticed it in time.

Happy Thanksgiving for those of us who celebrate it!

Made today's selection on the fly. People needed bottles opened...only made sure to grab one on the Disco list:

The Rainier is essentially a Huntsman, but with a 60% serrated main blade. I really like the 60% serration, and wish they were an option across the Victorinox model lines. There are two other related knives of this vintage (late 90s) that had this main blade: McKinley (like Tinker) and Matterhorn (like Deluxe Tinker). Good candidates to finish off the Disco Challenge...

Nice selection  :like:

Day 29

Almost there now! Used the scissors on the Master Craftsman/Astronaut to cut the stitching on another bag of sunflower hearts for my feathered friends before heading out to work this morning:
Very nice SAK.  :like:

Day 29

Victoria Armee Suisse Artisan

I was playing with some of my other Victorinox camp of discontinued this morning, and quite like this Armee Suisse Artisan I got couple years back.  Basically it has tools set similar to a modern fieldmaster, and each of the tool implement is quite different from its modern cousin.

A pinned SAK -  :like:
Wish I could come across one in the wild. Always looking! Enjoy

Day 29

Had a mini project of changing in a new door bell with the Matterhorn Plus. You know a door bell is a curious thing, as it is worse than nothing when broken.

Quite a coincidence it was actually was you Antti, I was kinda joking..
Or perhaps we Finnish collector's are just a small dedicated bunch.

Day 28

The Golfer's been back today, and it had the misfortune to open one of the worst beers I ever had. A new product of the brewery the Mrs. works for, she brought some home. It's supposed to be rum flavored, but it's like stomach acid mixed with beer, a beer reflux, bottled puke.  Who in their right mind approved this?  ???

A person who convinced them to even try mixing Beer and Rum probably was influential enough to get it produced however it tasted.

I agree. I need to get my hands on some of these to have a few more build options.  :salute:

Some great uses and pictures today.  Hope all who celebrates Thanksgiving giving had a great one and was able to add to their list of things to be thankful for and spent some nice time with loved ones.

Day 29
Still carrying the Yeoman.  Today was some mail opening duty which resulted in opening a couple boxes to ensure future gifts were working.  Then noticed a produce sticker had gotten stuck to my floor some time yesterday, so the combo tool scraped it up.  Then used the scissors to cut open a package of dental chews for my dog.

Day 29

A 2000 Vic Soldier was supposed to arrive this week, but no sign of it even today, so now it seems it will miss the challenge. Anyway, here's the Wenger Traveler peeling an orange. I love the talon style can opener, a real multi functional poking, cutting, scraping, peeling, opener tool. I keep them super sharp.

Nice uses today.

Day 29
After frying a turkey for Thanksgiving, here's my process of decanting the fryer oil back in to the bottle for storage or disposal.
1. I cut down a 2 liter bottle to use as a funnel.
2. I use a permanent, stainless steel mesh coffee filter to remove particulate matter such as any seasoning that came off the bird and remained in the oil.
3. Here's the oil draining through the filter and in to the bottle, and the Champion providing ballast to keep the funnel from moving.
