Went to the NEX today and looked at there SAK’s, Executive, Camper and Tinkers are all they had. Was kinda disappointed thats all they had.  :facepalm:

Day 19 photos

The Soldier model 2008. The new Soldier model comes with a hole in the blade for one hand opening. A requirement the German Army wanted in a knife to replace their current model. The model has some soft strips on it to help you keep a good grip on the knife.

I have the German Army version of that knife Ray.  It's my hiking and camping companion.  Do you know if Vic is discontinuing sales of the Army models?  I'd like to get the Swiss Army version.

I have several OHTs and a Soldier, all with the serrated edge.
If you want the plain edge then go for the Forester. Although it has a corkscrew instead of a Phillips driver.
The Forester replaces the slide lock Rucksack model, another one of my favorites, there´s one in my backpack always.

I like my Rucksack for sure. I prefer the slide-lock better myself.  :tu:

Other than the Soft grip Tinker that would be it. I heard the soft grip is what is used on the Soldier.

Day 20 photos

The German Army Knife aka the GAK. This 111mm is the replacement of the 108mm GAK. Now, of all the different Soldier model 2008, I think the GAK is the best looking. The German Army eagle is one of the best markings period! While I only have one, I do plan to buy a backup asap.

You’ve inspired me to do the same...I’m going to kick off on Friday. Will overlap the discontinued challenge that I’m doing in September, but I’m always up for carrying 2 SAKs!

As a little spin on the theme, I will step through each of the SAKs in the current 91mm range, as this has been my main collection focus.  :cheers:
