I agree.  :iagree:

Perhaps because the majority of Leatherman's knives are based on multitool platforms (Juice B2, Skeletool KBX, certain Free models)? The Craters I view as being designed and built around being a knife, same with the Klamath and other now discontinued lines. Perhaps the carabiners on all Craters, and the drivers on some made them MTs in LM's book?

You guys saw the Slim Pro Ranger I picked up, but that wasn't the only blade that ended up in the checkout basket.......

A Buck 119 "Special" found it's way to the checkout.

This may be my new favorite 'adventure knife'.  It might be a good Elk knife, too, but I think it's a bit large for most hunting tasks. The 119 has been produced in one form or another since 1942. I think Hoyt was making these for the war effort and they have a bit of a 'combat knife' orientation with their Bowie style blade and double guard.

The blade length is listed as 6", but mine measures  just under 5.75".  And that's fine with me. My preferred blade length for a 'survival knife' or 'adventure knife' is 4.5" to 5.5". The 119 still feels like a big knife to me. (A KaBar USMC knife has a 7" blade, this was my go-to camping knife when I was a wee lad, so a 5.75" blade feels 'big' but still familiar.)  At 13.5oz (385 gm), it's not a light knife, either. The standard 119 with aluminum and black phenolic is probably lighter than my brass and wood version. But I just fell for the looks of that brass.

A 6" knife is a funny sort of length: a bit too long for a precision hunting knife, and yet a bit too small to be a good chopper. So this seems like a good adventure knife: good for food prep, some wood processing, and just about any cutting task. It seems like the kind of knife that could handle most routine camp tasks. Most of the fixies I carried in the military were this size.

Definitely too large for EDC (or is it....? ).

The sheath it comes with is really nice and really secures the knife:

A leather outer sheath, it has a plastic liner to strengthen it, maybe keep a wet sheath away from the blade (420HC). If shaken vigorously, there is a slight rattle, but I don't think this is an issue.

As a package, it is very nice. Maybe not the most practical knife to own, but I really like it. It's going to find a place on motorcycle trips, car camping journeys, and some day hikes. It's just o cool for me to leave on a shelf.  :D

Congrats Nix ,you can't go wrong with such an iconic design.

I've been fortunate to have purchased many 119's.

Several years ago my brother called and asked if I would buy a couple of Buck 119's that had been reground to 5.5" blades. He was on vacation and found them for sale on the internet but he couldn't make the purchase with his phone.I bought them and had them shipped to our home. When he and his wife arrived home from their vacation he stopped by to get these modified 119's.I thought they were really well done so I took some pics and made a template of the blade with some scrap wood I had in my shop.Several months later I bought a damaged 119 and reground the blade using the template but I modified the design slightly.Fast forward several years and I now have reground two 119's both of which I modified to my liking.

Here they are.The top one is a 5" drop point with a 600 grit finish. The bottom one is a 4" with a mirror finish.

Pairing the 119 with the Stag Horn Outrider could be a marriage made in Heaven.  I can only dream of how beautiful their offspring would be.
