Going full circle
on: August 06, 2019, 03:20:32 PM
Hello folks. Just wanted to introduce myself. I’ve been a fan of this site for years but never joined. Roughly 25 years ago I can remember being a kid with a SAK thinking I can do anything but cure cancer. After a while my horizon widened with Tim Leatherman’s design and I never looked back. Still have my ‘96 PST, an original wave floating around somewhere, New Wave in the truck and Rebar for work. Recently I’ve noticed the only tools I use on the rebar I can have in a much lighter and less bulky package and when I do need, say the pliers, usually I need a stronger set and have them near me. So, the other week I picked up a fieldmaster. And love it. I’ve gone full circle, and brought back that feeling I had when I was a kid. So just wanted to share a story and say hello! Thanks for reading

I can see where some say the 4 layer is bulky but I like the saw and scissors. Thanks for the welcome too

For sure. However, after carrying a 4-layer for a while, I got quite used to it. And after doing the Swiss Champ 30-day challenge....well.....a 4-layer seems a bit puny....

No kidding! It’s pretty cool these challenges, the threads are fun to read too.

Welcome aboard! I've just about gone full circle too. Most days, a recently acquired Deluxe Tinker or traditional slipjoint pocket knife will handle my needs just fine. I still have the larger, fully laden tools, but don't have the need to weigh myself down with them any more

I posted the first earlier, I apologize about the blurriness of the fieldmaster against the rail bridge, and the last is a bit of cleaning the bear meat up for dinner!

Good story!  I went full circle in about a 17 year period, back to the SAK.  By way of Leathermans and folders in the interim, I went from a Tinker and Champion to ... well... you know....  Champion, Swisschamp, Soldier, Compact, Huntsman, one hand Trekker...   :climber:

Thanks Eleven! I’m buying everyone in my family different SAKs depending on what I think they would like. It’s a very fun game, and they all enjoy them!
