Hex Bit Help
on: September 29, 2019, 01:26:56 AM
Well hello.

I am in need of assistance. I have the bit extender for my Surge, but no 1/4" hex bit set to use with it. I have the bit kit from leatherman, which is extensive and overall awesome.

However, not everything I need it for is that easily accessible.

So are they are on any hex bit sets that you guys would recommend?

Thanks in advance :)

BM, although I'm partial to Leatherman's (most of my usage is light to medium duty, which for that they work fine), I can recommend Wera, Snap On, or Craftsman. There's one caveat: you'll need to carry a pencil-eraser-sized plug to drop into the extender first, so the regular bits do not sink past the holding spring and make it almost-impossible to retrieve! Other than that, they all work very well.  :tu:

Thanks Juan.

I forgot I have a Harbor Freight 130pc tool set. I believe I have a bunch of hex bits. I may use them. wont be for anything heavy duty thatd require quality bits, so HF should work fine.

If all else fails, Ill just spend $90 on a huge Westward kit

DeWalt and Milwaukee make some of the best I've seen so far. I especially like dewalt's Philips tips

Some of the cheap sets are not heat treated very well so they are too soft.
