Thanks all.  It certainly has a quality feel.  A bit grungy as the guy said he got it from an estate sale and could not find any info on it.  I actually just spent a few moments looking and theres not a lot.  I did however find someone who has a very similar one to this.  The discussions very clearly lead me to believe its legit tho an earlier one.  Its a cool knife for sure.  Lots of info on Al Mar and his knife company which was pretty cool to read about.  Thanks again all.   :woohoo:

I think that series of Al Mar knives was called the Eagle Talon lockback series.

From the pics you posted, it appears to be a genuine Al Mar blade.  It pre-dates their Osprey model, for sure.  Fit and finish on the micarta look perfect; as is the left-side stamped gold 'cartouche' on the blade, and it's also, replete with the Seki Japan marking.  The quality oozes forth from just the picture Aloha.  Here is a pic of my SERE with all the correct-markings, yours is factory-perfect.  Looks like you lucked-out with a winner!  :hatsoff:

The fit in that exact area is what made me take a chance as well as the over all fit and finish.  I'll snap a pic tomorrow.  Al Mar sure makes some sexy knives.  The lines are incredible.

Here's a snap showing the right-side of the blade, with the SF Crest, and MACV-SOG emblem.   I don't know how many bowies Al Mar did for this 'special run'.  But I've seen recent estate auction bids in excess of $400 USD for unused, pristine specimens.  Who knew?!  :o

Looks legit to me. I once owned a Al Mar Eagle with Ivory Micrata covers it was a very well made knife. I'm certainly no expert.

Heres the pic of the back of the knife opened.  The spine and lock bar meet with NO discernible feeling of those two meeting.  I run my finger across and nothing.
