My go bag has a Hunter in it as well as a GAK (old style). I sometimes forget how formidable a 111mm SAK can be as an edc.

Back in the SOSAK days, I did an experiment with a 111mm SAK saw to see if I could saw down a tree twice as thick as the saw length. The SAK won.

Rather mundane quote entered here to approximate humor.

:iagree: the lesser layer 111mm are great EDC.
Nice to know the saw will do a tree twice as thick as the saw length.

Day 2 photo

Filings away some rough plastic trim off the door weather strip. Made a quick job of it.
Have to run...getting last minute things done before the hurricane visits us.

The plumcot didn’t last very long as this blade is an excellent slicer. The best thing from this usage is you get to eat the results! Yummy

Day 4 photo

Wanted to talk about the blade today. I noticed something different about this blade from my other 111mm. It has a safety stop notch on it.  :sa:
I wasn’t aware of that when I bought it. Is this going to be something new Victorinox is going to be doing or just this one model? The stop is not at the 90 degree I find on some of the other knives that have this feature. It is a little off, maybe 95? Here is a photo of it at the stop...

That's interesting. It's not on my Workchamp. Though I have had that for some years, so it could be on more recent ones. How old is your XL Ray?

Also, every time I read this thread it’s making me think I want an XL. Do I need one? Hell no, cleaning a horse's hoof is not a job I am expecting to do any time soon. But it strikes me that when it comes to the actually useable SAKs, as opposed to the XAVTs etc that are just for impressing your friends, the XL really is the Big Kahuna. So therefore I want it!

I just got mine maybe 2 months ago at SMKWs. So recently! And mine is also a liner-lock.

Rapidray - my only 111, the Garant, also has that stop - I got it earlier this year from Navarra, Spain - just had to have those orange tools and a use for an orange Vic lanyard!
