Thank you on both!  :tu:
I like to listen to the short wave mostly to hear what is happening in the world that our news agencies won’t tell us. Wanted a digital one, as my old one is over 20 years old.

The can opener is one of three Victorinox tools that has been offered since 1890/1891. The awl and the screw driver are the other two.

Four if you include the knife blade. :)

I could use a new sw radio, mine is about 50 years old (and weighs about 50 pounds).

Wow - 50 years old! Cool.
I know its new but some of these digital features are really nice.  The ETM is an Easy Tuning Mode. Press this button and it goes flying finding stations for you and when done you turn the tuning knob and it starts going thru the stations it found so no dead stations!
And it has Bluetooth!

Now that is a serious radio, and they built it to last, even if you had to have a special room in your house to accommodate it.

My father-in-law had a shed all decked out with the equipment in it and chairs table, tower in the back yard. His equipment was about the same age as yours - tubes! He got me hooked on shortwave listening

Ron Who - that’s quite some radio - just need the special pocket to make it portable!!

Rapidray- that’s an interesting feature set on the radio - my “old” Sony (had it for nearly 30 years now) gats FM, MW, LW and SW and was my constant companion in the 1990s when I was on the move pretty much all the time - runs on just 2xAAs, and has a handy alarm feature so I could wake up to the world service no matter where!

Day 8 photos

Today tool use was with the inline Phillips. Nice small and with a long reach! I can see why a lot of users love the inline tools!
Good to see that long Phillips getting some use!

I seem to recall snapping the one on my Workchamp closed on the back of my fingers once or twice

That is a nice looking set up there.  :tu:
This one has the alarm feature also.
Another feature I have learned to use is the band width...when you get a station with noise, you can touch the button and it will change 1 -6 kHz. Works great!

A double kick stand! The back side tools has 2 awl/reamer’s! The XL seems to have doubles in more ways than one. You have a can opener and you have a combo tool. You have a gutting tool that was used on the Fireman as a seat belt cutter - version 1 and then the current seat belt cutter - version 2. This would be a true NASA knife...it has backup’s. Back to our awl/reamer...when they first came out in the 111mm slide lock they had the eye’s in them. With the liner lock you loose the eyes,

Interesting. I don’t know why they wouldn't want to keep the eyes in the awls, though  ???
