I put a little beeswax base lip balm in the blade mortise.  Still gets tight in rainy weather some.  Best wishes.  G

I have a lot to consider now. Thanks, y'awl!

I might poke the No. 4's blade through a tea bag and see what happens. Getting hold of Jarlsberg cheese would be a little more difficult. A tangerine would be easier to find and smell more pleasant.

I'm happy to report that the potato smell is fading and a little time for the vegetable oil to soak in resulted in a blade that's much easier to open and close. :woohoo:

After putting some use on my No. 8 pruner I decided it would be amazing to try it with a No. 9 handle, which is quite fitting for my hand. This way it is comfortable for both cutting toward and away. Not sure what I will do with the finish of the handle.
