Is Case doing the vault Razor is CS/CV at all? I've looked, but I can't find any. If not, how likely is it that they'll roll one out later this year? I know they sometimes release them with different handles later in the year, but not sure about the blades.

I originally wonder the same, if a CS version would be offered. And I am still wondering.

On the other side of the coin, it does appear that CASE is releasing more patterns with the Carbon Steel option than in previous years.

And, then it has been mentioned in a SMKW you tube video with a CASE rep, they are introducing different handle materials and color combos, BUT, only in restricted quantities. When gone, they will be GONE.

Like the SMKW exclusive, SEA DRAGON BONE.  NOTE, CASE labels the box as Burnt Caribbean Blue  Jig Bone.  Pretty much all patterns in this color are gone.

It is my take, marketing toward collectors AND SECONDARY RESELLERS by limiting quantity  to increase inventory turnover.

A model other knife makers have been enjoying the past several years, as GEC,  and the sub brands.

If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

On the one hand, I'm broadly unenthused with intentionally limited collectors editions of any kind. I'd prefer pieces be available to whoever wants them.

On the other, I recognize that collectability is probably the only reason Case is still in business after all the other big east coast cutlery companies went under, and I appreciate that they mostly do cosmetic collectables, and keep most of the patterns pretty widely available.

It's not ideal, but I think it's probably about the best balance we're likely to get from a company in the current market.

There’s only one more case knife I want and that’s a CS barlow in sawcut bone. I am sure they will do one again eventually. They recently released a CS version in grey pocket worn jigged bone, and if I found one it would take all my strength to resist. But it’s a sawcut I really want.
My trouble is i never show initiative, but that's only because no one has told me to.

I found this video very informative.
When you get to the last few minutes it brings home why I personally don’t buy rosecraft or rough rider knives.

Is it just me or is it difficult to find what case knives are currently being made? Wheres the Casewiki? Their site can’t be it for carbon steel offerings right?

I am looking around for 47 pattern in carbon steel and starting to think it has not been made for a number of years now.  Also a mini trapper with the wharncliffe blade in carbon, doesn’t seem to exist except a few red american flag ones I found on ebay.

Case’s website is pretty worthless.

47s in CS are still being made, or at least were until recently, but maybe only as SFOs.  However, for some reason unknown to me, if you step up to the 75 pattern, you’ll find CS options in several different scale materials.

It has been my observation over the years that Case simply doesn’t (and as a practical matter, probably couldn’t) offer every variation of every pattern in every handle material in both CS and SS.  So, among those things (pattern, variation or sub-pattern, scale material, steel), one has to consider which are really priorities and which can be compromised on.

With regard to the mini trapper, wharncliffe blade, carbon steel, keep in mind that you’re looking for a very specific variation of a specific pattern, and in CS (which seems to be a decided minority of Case’s production these days).  If I were you and I wanted one, I would snag one of the red-scaled US flag shield versions (even if I didn’t love the handles) before they are gone.

DLT exclusive

Wharncliff and Micarta and CS, single blade.

I missed the “Mini” part of your quest.

I am considering stepping up or down to a medium or large stockman, I need to go into the shop and handle a medium to see if I like it.

I am realizing more-so how it works and that I have latched onto knives that are double specific. I think the scarcity might also make that special combo more special once they do make it/ or you find it.

I have been think in’

Plus they also have it in a clip point (single blade).  Do wish they would have combined the two blades to one knife like this one…

I just want to go on record and say, “DARN YOU ENGINEARS!!!”

Like you, the ‘47 stockman is my go to size, and I have a few.  Also, the size is comparable to the Buck 301, and Camillus 66 which sre favorites.

And as pointed out, CASE has been recently introducing the ‘75 in both SS and CV or CS, with a variety of scale families.

After this thread was observed I have casually searched and no recent ‘47 models have been included in the catalogs or via the normal outlets. And, not found one in anything but SS.

I had stepped up to a ‘75 a couple months ago, wanted one in blue, or in a rich green hue.

I selected the Mediterranean Blue,

* IMG_5964.jpg (Filesize: 114.46 KB)

But it is SS😁

This thread got me also searching options in Carbon.

I do have the Yellow, and it was my test carry before buying my current model.

Then, the workman RED with the  US Flag badge, and also Amber Jig Bone CV !

Then last night, late, killing time, I scanned Amazon for a couple items and suggested was the ‘75 Stockman, Amber CV, at 10$ lower price than previously seen. I checked and verified, yep a lower price, free shipping, and if order in next 60 minutes delivery next day🤪

Well let’s just say, I spaced out and this morning just received a “out for delivery” message!

So, you now know!

To me the CV blades are just a better work steel.  I would have been content with the RED, yet Amber Bone at the same cost, duh🤪

Now continue search for a ‘47…

  :hatsoff:

 Congrats on your new case, let us see it when it comes in. I am glad my post could remind you that you need more Case knives  :D

I am glad they have started making carbon 75s in more handle options. Your blue 75 is a beauty though!

With so many SAKs and my SS sow belly I really have my fill of stainless knives. I need a significant correction in my carbon/SS ratio.

It seems like every model that catches my eye is not available. I had a few hours the other night where the mini copperhead with the wharncliffe had me going but alas it seems to be only in SS right now.

I went to my local dealer friend and handled a medium and large stockman, I told him if he can’t find the 47 or two blade wharncliffe mini trapper that a medium stockman would be my next choice for now. He assured me that he had put out some feelers for older releases of those models in carbon and would keep me posted. So fingers crossed that something turns up.

How do people feel about the drop point Russlocks? I've been carrying my  clip point one more lately, and not sure if the other style is worth picking up.

Was on front porch when I arrived home late last night from ball game.

First I was surprised it is a 2022 build.
Second the blades are rough and will require some work to improve cut ability. Apparently CASE has been consistent with poor sharpening practice longer than I recalled.

A 44 medium may be the next size down in CV  or CS builds.

I think the 44 is quite a bit smaller at only 3 1/4” closed.   I believe the next size down from the 47 (3 7/8” closed) would be the 18 or the 032 (both 3 5/8” closed).  Finding them in CV/CS could be the rub though.

Not sure I have a 032, but here is a 75, 47, and 18…

Yes, the 44 is smaller yet has the standard clip point blade. The others I believe are fitted with the California Clip or SS other call a Muskrat blade.

I feel for the Tribal Lock, then the Copperhead and CopperLock.
The 47 matches with my 301 (Buck) and Camillus 66

Yet, I do enjoy the versatility of the 75, stainless for food chores and just had to get a CV model for my chores as I find the blades once sharpen holds their edge for longer period, plus gets prettier with age/use.

Then the trappers fitted with a Wharncliff are great work knifes  too!

It is never ending!  The excuses to have more…
