This is the 6265's little brother.lol

Do the scales feel slick in the hand?  They look so nice and tempting, but I worry about how smooth they look and not being able to keep a good grip.

Thank you gentlemen.

The silver Kirinite are the most spectacular handles in the Kirinite series.

Some owners claim they have a sticky feel to them.My opinion, for what it's worth,is they are no better or worse than any smooth handle material whether they're smooth bone or a synthetic such as Delrin.

Well snap apples are doing a trick on the Case for sure. The patina today...

I've never done a patina by food before.... Is it normal to have a somewhat heavy taste of iron in your apple slices? I'm not leaving the knife in, just straight cuts.
I MAY not have gotten all the wax off, and I am somewhat stuffy and congested, so my sense of taste is skewed. But I could've swore I was tasting iron.

Leave the knife in the apple??
I usually cut slices or quarter them if they are smaller. I haven’t tasted iron on my apples.

I've seen people leave a knife in something, like a potato or apple, for ______ amount of time to get a darker patina.
Just wanted to clarify that wasn't what I was doing.

I'll have to try a better cleaned apple tomorrow :climber:

That article talks about a dark variety in the US called Arkansas Black...how sad is it that I live in Arkansas and never even heard of those?

Btw..the Black Diamond apples look cool as heck!!!

It is interesting for sure! Then again, I didn’t realize there were so many different types of apples! Over 7,500 world wide, 2,500 in the United States of which 100 are for market. Thats a lot of apples!

Case Knives
Reply #855 on: October 12, 2019, 06:26:18 PM
I was at a small town south of me and stopped at its hardware store.  Walked into a Case Event.  Factory reps offering sharpening services, discontinued models stacked on tables, special give aways and dealer special addition knives.  And loads of people! AND FOOD and DRINK.

Along with sale items was this display case

I did pick up a 2019 Catalog and red Case towel.
On the discontinued table there were lots of knives, a Grey Moose, Black/Purple Sod Buster Jr and others I would have wanted.

But, I did pick two and had the funds to acquire.
A Crimson Trapper
And, a bucket list style, a Muskrat pattern with blue scales.
Met several nice collectors hovering over the discontinued table, all veterans, Korean or Vietnam era.  Each very knowledgeable of Case knives.

A good Saturday morning to say so myself.

Thank you ToolGuy.

I was lucky I did not take more $s with me.  There were several Russ-locks, a pretty Sodbuster Jr and a Grey Moose.

If I came home with more, wife would start taking my truck keys when she leaves for work.

We've all been there.LOL

If you ever reach the point where you not only look for certain knives but feel the need to pair them with another knife with the same handle material ,then you should become concerned.LOL.

Neat! I'm fortunate to live under an hour away from the national apple harvest festival in Pennsylvania, and I've never seen a black apple.
