Thank Goodness for the Annual 58mm Design Contest
on: September 10, 2019, 05:37:04 AM
Hi Knights

Was doing a little work in the Wiki on the Collections page which featured some of the old Classic/Executive designs:-
https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Collection+Series

And you know - These Victorinox designs really are pretty uninspiring and awful - Along with most of the other Victorinox Classic scale designs   :o    :pok:

In 2010 Victorinox initiated an annual Limited Edition of ten Classics
The first two years the designs were made by Victorinox - and once again they were pretty awful!    >:D

See NeleDo's amazing picture on the Wiki page Nick4 made
https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Classic+SD+Limited+Edition+Annual+Series

Then in 2012 they initiated the annual 'Crowd Designed' contest - And since then I think the designs have been pretty fab    :D
The outstanding year, for me, was 2017 - The first year where there was a theme for the designs - Which was Animals of the World
Again see NeleDo's image.

What are your thoughts?

Not generally a fan of the Limited Editions because Victorinox still hasn't figured out how to protect the image.

That being said, I just love the "Mountains Are Calling" offering. I hate that it's not one that can be carried W/O dammaged.

I have the "Mountains are Calling" and really love it.  The crowd designs are great.  My partner also has one but I forget which .

I have a few. I think they add a fun dimension and create a bit of interest every year.

One of my favourites is The World My Home
