I had decided that our inability to colonize Mars was only being prevented by our failure to utilize jigsaw blades in a handheld format.
Following in Archimedes’ wet, sudsy footsteps, I took to my bath tub.
There floating amid the rejuvenating cocktail of jollop, balms and scented ungulants, I was suddenly hit by inspiration.
You will need:
1 x Set Screw - whose diameter is near to the width of the lugs on the blade’s tang. And whose length is slightly less than the depth of the blade across the lugs + 2 x washers + 1 x nut
(M6 x 12, ¼” USF x ½”, 0BA etc)
2 x washers
1 x nut
Method:
Step 1: Hacksaw a slot through the centre of the set screw along its full length
Step 2: Er...that’s it. Here you could add your own signature finishing move. (Though for propriety’s sake, it’s probably best to avoid “The last turkey in the shop” or “The early days of aviation”)
Place a washer on the screw and position the blade so the lugs align with the screw. Add the remaining washer and hand-tighten the nut.
You can now use this with stable assurity in the grippy contraption of your own choice. (Although all sensible people agree the Mole Grip is the way forward)
Now, I should have legged it down the Patent Office and have limited editions coming out in Black Oxide, Haemoglobin or Pineapple but I figure this is my gift to humanity.
Run my pretties, run!
