SAK - as in Spain Army Knife
on: July 28, 2019, 12:50:44 PM
Okay, this is not a Swiss but a Spain Army Knife. Or should we call these EASK... as in ESpana Army Knife.

Don't know if it is original, but it seems like. It came with the 'army' tag.
No visible tang stamps etc.
The knife is heavy and sturdy, with firm 'snaps'. Not junk metal. The one side slab is not very nice mounted. Looks very much like an Aitor.

Aitor... They used to be sub-contracted for the 108mm GAKs...

Yes, that's an Aitor knife. A "Capitan", or a "Gran Capitan".
They are a fair bit larger the Swiss Soldier knives. I have one and it's a beast.

I'd have guessed that it was a 91mm from the pictures.  Second guess would be 108mm.  How big are they?

Chinese knife that replaced the Aitor in the Spanish exercise.
The exact model in Aitor is Gran Granadero.

The Grand Captain has a corkscrew and this one doesn't.
I have all three knives.

I have to look for them.
In a few days if I can put pictures.

So this one is China made? I think it is not bad quality. But is is Aitor quality better?

If it is Chinese.
That sheet betrays him
Aitor if it is of more quality.
And if it is old better.
I do not forget the photos.

As promised, here are the pictures

From right to left
Aitor Gran Capitan.
Aitor Gran Granadero.
Chinese version of Aitor Great Grenadier.(This was my knife while I was in the army.  1994/1995)

Aitor Gran Granadero vs Chinese.

Two Aitor Blade(The Great Cattleman already asked for the laser marking) This was a knife used in the army of a friend of mine

[/url]

Different shields

The Great Captain is older (pre-constitution era).
The Gran Granadero(constitution era)
Chinese (1994)

China there are darker greens too.

I hope you serve the photos.  But add that there are more versions of shields and some more model, although less usual.

Great collection!

I took some shots from my Gran Gourmet for another thread, comparing the size to a SAK Explorer.

Everything on the Gran series is extra large

This Great Grenadier was bought yesterday at the flea market.
It is an Aitor but the leaf is like the Chinese

That looks like a Great Patrol Aitor.
The punch hole looks pretty bad.
I've never seen that model in the army but with Aitor you never know.  Too many variants for army corps

A good way to distinguish whether it is from the army is the scale logo.

Thus is the logo. It is for sale on the internet, but I'm not gonna pay € 30!

If it is army logo.
But it is not in very good condition.  The punch hole is enlarged and aimed to break
