Have the prices gone up?
on: March 21, 2020, 01:51:29 PM
I haven't paid much attention to the fixed blade market for a few years now and outside of someone here giving us rather large news, I'm mostly oblivious to the offerings. But I've started looking at some prices yesterday and I was a bit shocked that a Fallkniven F1 in the basic configuration (VG10, satin blade, zytel sheath) went for about 150€. I recall them being closer to the 100 mark. For some reason I thought that is was in a similar ball part as the Mora Garberg (and was actually wondering how so few have compared the two).

So is this just me or have the prices really gone up?

I definitely think prices have gone up.

I think steel has become a bit more expensive (though Pabs will chime in and say that the cost of the steel is a fraction of the price) and perhpas the knife market is just a bit 'hotter' lately.

But even kitchen cutlery seems more expensive.

Starship steel is $1.40 per pound, and I can't imagine that knife steel is much more. :dunno:
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

i think it might be more for flowers

here people have been buying baking power, yeast and similar things. to the point that some bought 60 kg of it. and when asked about it the responses were "well what do I care if others can't buy it now"

oh and one more question - your favorite production stainless steel fixed blade knives in the range of 3.75" to 4.4" blade ?
