6# magnets were too tight to fit inside the links. Shaving down the edges on angles seems like it will work, though will probably promote rust. Plating made them too tight, so will have to find something to fit better, but will shave the sides down for now. Buggers are quite strong!  :ahhh

Day 9 - Was doing trike maintenance.
Cleaned out a stuffed up Schrader valve stem, not with the tread. Slime likes to stuff its sealant goop and fine fibers into valve stems, causing issues with inflation before rides, and obviously the leaks are in the valve stems themselves. :ahhh Would usually bleed a valve stem some to eject any Slime goop out, then inflate. But when nothing is going in or out have to pull the valve out and either clean it or replace it.

So, was like an hour late getting out, and I hopped on the Rover and my hand rested on the AirZound air horn. Looked down... BUGGERS! A zip tie had broken loose.
The bike clamp has a nut & bolt closure. And the horn hooks over this teeny bit of plastic, and one good bump and the air horn falls. So to fix that we run a zip tie from inside the clamp, around the horn body, and pull it tight. Guess not all zip ties last 2 years. :dunno:

First had to loose then clamp, and then slip a zip tie underneath, clamp the parts, and tighten the clamp back down.

Not going to lie, I used a screwdriver. Was not going to waste time when I should be out riding. And needed to clip that zip tie and only had a Crunch on me, so Tread to the rescue.

Got a ride in, and came back in the dark, though with the Victagen K2D 2400 lumen light and a 20,000 mAh lithium-ion battery pack I was not totally in the dark.  :D

  Trike maintenance continued... Day 10

Even though I did Loktite these hex bolts that hold the frame to the inner adjusting boom, they can come loose. I do carry a set of hex wrenches, I decided to show how good the Leatherman Tread can be for those of us who ride TerraTrike recumbent trikes.

Each bolt has a specific purpose, yet all three are critical to keep tight. While the real Tread may look flimsy, you'll have to know I put some effort in applying pressure as I would a normal hex wrench. Tread can take that force!  :o

Had been thinking over the years about getting another one. The day before sending the stainless steel Tread to my friend Tracy, I found out just how useful this was on this TerraTrike Rover recumbent trike.

So the Tread is useful for Us that use it, and depend upon it. Saves having the drag around 2 pounds of tools if not needed. Many cyclists have their own brand of multitool. Tread does not have a chain breaker, nor a pair of pliers or snips; so I carry a Skeletool. Do wished the Tread had a GoPro compatible wrench on it though, even as a spare link.

Alas, I kept to my original plan to send the 1st Tread to Tracey Ramsey, and it had been through Smog Angeles and Atlanta airports, and a few in between. Even have a photo of me wearing it at the 72nd floor of the round Westin Hotel, pointing at the spooky (at night) lawyer building across the way; it's roof looked like a scene out of Ghost Busters!  :ahhh

Day 11 - Sitting in the car trying to think what to do next... saw the small screwdriver and gave it a go at tightening the eyeglass screws. Was not an easy feat, especially trying to balance an iPhone 7 that is sucks for macro shots.  :-\

Second (best) photo was using a Joby GripTight smartphone mount on a tripod, balanced between my legs.

To be truthful, a Leatherman Micra does a lot better job at this, which I double checked at home. Tread did work, though it was not an easy job without being able to use bifocals or a magnifier. Had to go more by feeling the standard slot. But it did work.

Bonus shot. Leatherman Tread air bathing on top of a Razer chromo keyboard.

Was going to use a bumper sticker reduction of "I Have A Leatherman, I Can Help" save the only copy I had was used in a signature on this forum. Don't have a more reasonable sized flat photo to use.  :-\

Day 12 - Left tires were low. Unusual that only the lefts were like 20 pounds under pressure... and I park my car up close to the porch & shed. Anyhow, the thumb lever was a bit loose from the Ryobi air pump. Tread was handy, used the screw driver to put the screw back where it was supposed to be.

Been carrying this Ryobi pump in the back packs of the TerraTrike Rover. Had replaced a few plugged or leaky valve stems while out riding, and this pump get the innertube inflated in about 2 minutes. For what little weight there is with a standard battery, can get like 40 uses before the battery starts to show signs if getting run down.

Have a few more ideas that may surprise ya coming up, or least give ya that quirky smile on your face.

Am curious though... has anyone wore a Tread as an anklet? Ladies? Guys getting their ladies to pose for it?  :D  ::)
Sadly my ankles would scare everyone from the page.  :ahhh

Day 13, or the night thereof. Been having this unusual tapping noise in the car that was bugging me. Going down the road did not hear it much. When I would get home, nothing. So was checking under the hood for anything loose. Engine was not making any unusual tapping other than it is getting older.

Check the air hoses, used Tread cause it was handy. Figured it would be a good photo anyhoo. But they were good. Air filter was okay too. Hmm.

Then I remembered the oil pan heater that I had traded for a year years back. That might be a culprit?

Indeed this was the culprit. The plastic housing got chewed away by something, the handle was barely held on by a screw, and the bugger rattled bad. Sounded a lot like what I was hearing, and it was tucked under someplace I could only find with my hand. Cut the cord with the Crunch, and then the wire tie with the Tread as I did not want to nick the radiator hose,  :ahhh

Note: To save on image count, I combined two photos. It's a Flik'r thing. Have only so many photos before have to pay for monthly space.

If you only saw how bad that oil pan heater was. It literally fell apart in my hands. Think the cord was keeping it intact.  :ahhh
