Nice pics Cryptrick  :D

Our life boat has just bought some new lifejackets , they are the Bees knees but are auto inflation which means as soon as they get wet they go off which is not a good idea for us as we get wet alot on our boat and spend quite a bit of time in the water . So we had to disarm the auto inflation .They are still left with the manual pull cord inflation .This was a good job for a multitool and what better way to test my new SOG S60 .I just done a deal with Def on it  today  :D

The thing that makes it so nice for me is that my house , the lifeboat shed and the pub are all within 1 minutes walk of each other  :D I have all that plus the biggest garden in the world  ;)

Money might be tight but I sure am lucky  :D

Oupa Copper Climber.  It is quite difficult to show the beauty of this SAK in pictures.  The color variations don't show well.  I need to try a light box so there's not as much glare.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

"Oupa" is the nickname of the outstanding craftsman from Australia, Dirk Potgeiter.  "Oupa" is a South African word meaning "Grandfather".

This is a very basic "melted copper" design--many of his customs are incredibly intricate, with inlays and many other techniques that will leave you in awe.  This Climber finished second in the 2006 SOSAK modding contest.  The submitted knives where auctioned off after the contest and I was the lucky winner of this one.

The copper that Dirk uses for these customs is from a very old hot water tank that used to service steam locomotives.  He has said that the back side of this copper (inside of the tank) has such a thick, black oxide layer on it that it will not come off with a wire brush on a grinder.  The copper is thin and hard and the spacer material he uses is leather, which you can easily see where the copper has been completely "melted" through around the edges.

visit Oupa's website here: http://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/oupa/index.php
