Yes.  It's a Smith & Wesson model 442.  It has a 5 shot cylinder and an alloy frame.  It weighs 15 oz. unloaded, and it fits in a pocket very nicely!

Mike--Thanks, I'm loving the J-frame!

I always hated the .38 special. It really doesn't have the greatest power, and it only has a range of about 50 yards. But, who shoots that far with a pistol?  ???

The .38 snubnose is great for CCW, especially one loaded with +P hollowpoints--they have about the same ballistics as a 9mm round.  It makes absolutely no difference what the range of the .38 special is, since, with the short sight radius of this gun, you're only going to be accurate to about 8-10 yards from the target anyway.  I think you'll find that self defense situations are  nearly always at shorter distances than that.  The size of the snubnose j-frames can only be compared to mouse guns, which are usually chambered for .25 or .380.  I would certainly rather have 5 100% reliable .38 special +Ps at my disposal in a defense situation than small caliber rounds in a bottom feeder that is rarely 100% reliable.

Bob, I suppose if you were looking for a common theme in that pic, it would be anodized aluminum and brass.  Is that what you are referring to?  I was thinking that maybe I shouldn't post a firearm picture in a multitool picture thread, but then I realized that I could put holes in multiple things with the revo.  :D :P

Another common theme in the picture above is that I carried those items in my pockets today.

But, perhaps these three items have more commonality:

Actually I was thinking the theme was Hard Anodized Aluminum in that first pic Terry.  :)

Black Anodized Aluminum in the one above?

You got it.

I'm not sure the snubnose's frame finish is HA.  I certainly hope it is...

Try taking a file to it. If it doesn't scratch, its HA.  :D

If you can conceal it, a 5-shot S&W .38 snubby is really hard to beat for self defense carry.

Many plainclothes cops and bodyguards used to favor these little revolvers.  Not that long ago they were pretty much the standard sidearm of those professions, and with good reason.  It's mighty comforting to know it'll go bang five times in a row with something like %99.99 reliability.

Some of the better .380 pistols (Beretta, Mauser, Walther) can be quite reliable after break in, but probably never as reliable as a S&W .38 snubby.  I do find the .380s a little easier to conceal because they are thinner and flatter.

I love the 38. Stopping power almost as good as a 9MM but a LOT more pleasant to shoot. Plus I'm a revolver guy anyway. I've got a Taurus model 82(clone of Smith model 10) and I've owned it since 1990. 18 years and never a jam or hiccup. No springs to wear out and I don't have to worry about bad magazines. No FTF's or FTE's either.

I see whatcha mean! Speaking about the .380, I have the German made PPK and it is a beast! I don't like how you can get the " snake bites " from the blow back slide. You have to have a low grip on the handle because of it. My Dad has the American made one and IMO it is inferior. I love my German PPK. But, not as much as ANY of my .45's!

I've heard about those snake bites from the PPK slides before, but it is still a great, somewhat concealable weapon.  It's a shame because a low grip, as you probably know, is not conducive to good accuracy.

I'd carry a 1911 around all the time if I could, or even my Sig 9mm for that matter.  Sigs are a another wonderful example of Swiss/German engineering!

:D  While I never doubted the Spirits build quality and features I sold my last one because I need some money to buy other sharp stuff and it just wasnt getting used . Nothings changed really apart from I'm busy trying to build up my multitool collection and giving other brands a chance to improve my knowledge on them . There are times when I need a lighter Multitool especially in summer .The Fullsize swisstool still reigns supreme though  :D
The Spirit does have a couple of features that make it in my eyes the best multitool in its class but I will talk about them in my review I'm writting . I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to anyone .
