I don't think it's a Mr. Peanut or a Coca-Cola variety, it has to be something that you thought didn't exist or thought was a prototype.
Am I getting warm?

Wasn't sure it existed, but had a theory that it should exist.  No more questions!!  And take your time...I'm in no hurry!

My view on prototypes is that you can't really know or guess that they exist. They just show up. And I doubt you'd ever hope to find a 2nd copy of a prototype.  I'm going to spend/waste a lot of time in the future looking for a second or more copies.

That's a specific guess.

Something to do with a box or a Camper  :pok: :pok:

Man, that's vague.  In theory, most SAKs came in boxes.

But suggestions like that might help FB...

Definitely going to be something old - 1950s or earlier

Ooops - I am not FB -  :o     - But comment allowed as this is not a formal specific guess    :D

Agreed. comments and suggestions allowed or even encouraged!

An 84mm Grand Prix would be my guess... If I was guessing

They exist as a special ad order somewhere way back, but are not available on every street corner.

This used to be my holy grail, the SwissBianco Carver SW. Until I found it. There is no next holy grail.

Seeking is probably a strong word, but I’d like to have an original pioneer with the triangular awl.

Unfortunately they’re fairly rare and usually too spendy for me.

And to prove my point, this one just sold on eBay. A bit more than I could spend, to say the least  :o

Motivated bidders are tough to compete with!  It only takes two to get a bit crazy. That was probably one of the nicer ones I've seen lately.

What would a minty one go for?

Was watching that one too!  Glad I have a good specimen for my collection and don't have to participate in the auction madness when these come up.  But I've overpaid on a couple that I really wanted in the past, too.    :-[

Must have been that one I bid on and didn't have deep enough pockets for.  I actually thought it might go higher.   :dunno:

I honestly don’t know. I’ve seen the prices go all over the place. This one seemed about average.

I’m happy the seller got that price and that the buyer found a nice example. Unfortunately, just more money than I have to apply to what would likely be my only shelf queen.

Yeah, I bid too, but was out at $90.

I figured it would go for around $300ish

Thank you, Gustophersmob!

Also, don't lose heart.  I paid just over a hundred bucks and just under a hundred bucks, respectively, for both of mine.

I’ll admit to being the underbidder on that one, at $357. I decided to bid more than I wanted to spend to avoid regret in the event I didn’t win. The other guy/gal clearly wanted it worse than I.

Congrats to whomever the winner was.

Yeah, I agree!

I should probably also clarify that I’m not at all bitter about the price these go for, or against whomever buys or sells them at that price. The market will either bear a price or not, and clearly these are highly valued (and for good reason in my opinion, which is why I don’t consider the price “silly” or “crazy”).

I’m happy the seller got a decent price for it and that the buyer got a nice example of the original version of the best (IMO) pocketknife made  :tu:

Edit to add: too bad you didn’t win, it would’ve been cool to see that one end up in an MTOer’s collection

Actually, thanks to Folder Beholder, I have one of my Grail knives.  I picked up a '67 Soldier earlier this year.  1967 was a strange year in that only Wenger produced knives for the Swiss Army.  She found it for me and I pounced on it!
