Spirit X 30 Day Challenge
on: November 01, 2019, 11:21:54 PM
Day 1 - Became a proud owner of a Victorinox Spirit X, and what better way to learn to use the tool than a 30 day challenge?  :D

Today, got the rice cooker going. Added some frozen hot beef sausages to the rice and veggies.

Still cooking, so no photos of that. Don't want to start sending people to the kitchen.

Day 2 - Well, it happened, needed to cut some tape and out came the chisel tool (once I found it). :D

And... bought a Walmart chicken sandwich. Had this spicy sauce inside, yet could not open by hand. Scissors actually do come in handy at times.

Looking good! For me it took some time to get used to the spirit since I normally don't use plier based mt. But after the scissor mod (do a quick search for it) and a custom sheath I can't stop carrying it

I think this is the scissor mod: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,80005.msg1829880.html#msg1829880

Might have to do that too, even though I don’t like the idea of grinding at my brand new Spirit  :ahhh

If it's not a collector item and you find the scissors insufficient then I say go! I haven't looked back. But if it's part of a collection I might think twice

My Spirit came in today!  :mail: And I think I am already in love  :ahhh

It is sturdy, but elegant, compact but has very nice ergonomics. Nothing pinches, nothing wobbles, nothing clumps. This is truly a work of art, and I can't believe I waited so long to get one! :kirky:

Also really like the leather sheath!

So, without further ado, let's get this Challenge rolling! Since we start 4 days late we will continue until the 4th of December in order to complete this challenge.

Day 1

Used the Spirit to break down the box it got shipped in.

Already loving this combo tool, with the chisel/scraper. I have a feeling this will see a lot of use!

Thanks "Outback in Idaho" for waiting for me, looking forward to your posts!

Well, I have 30 day challenges on Facebook too, so I have not stopped. :D Trying to give friends some encouragement and interest.

Day 3 - While merchandising my finger scraped something sharp, and found these two plastic price tag display had very sharp corners. So pulled the Spirit out, filed down them ornery corners! It helps to get the smooth side on shelf side. /snicker

It is a nice change to have all the tools, plus that highly useful Chisel − all in one multitool; scissors, awl, Swiss can opener, long slender screw drivers, file, the works! And all in one lighter weight tool. Am jazzed. And took me ALL THIS TIME to nibble in the other pasture.

Catching up on this thread, great pics and uses so far!

I really, really like the spirit. It may not be the “best” tool out there, but something about it just speaks to me. Looking forward to seeing what you guys think after a month of use

When not in a challenge I EDC either the Spirit or the Big Brother Swisstool.  After doing many challenges with other tools there are a few things (OHO main blade, replacable wire cutters, wider opening jaws) that Vic could do to update and improve the designs.  That being said, both are GREAT tools JUST AS THEY ARE and I prefer them both over the other guys that do offer those things.

Congratulations on joining a great club of wonderious new adventures.

I agree on the replaceable wire cutters.

If Victorinox ever does add replaceable wire cutters, hope they keep the needle nose shape with finer jaw grips.

The Spirit is helping doing some wood work.
