I found a new piece at the local Value Village and just had to bring it home with me. I couldn't resist the price of 14.00 Canadian either...and for such a large piece...I know that was a steal.
My encounter with this type of art goes back to the mid 80's. There was a Christmas pop up retailer that had a booth in the Station Mall. One of those 6 portable tables set up in the middle of the corridor type thing. I was amazed at the intricacy and the details of the various pieces on display. I like them so much that I saved my money and bought one for my mother for Christmas. Then of course, we got a few more over the years. I no longer find them locally anymore as much as it used to be. So far, I have 4 counting the one purchased today.
For a touch of history...
https://www.chinaartlover.com/chinese-cork-carving-history-valueThe smallest one I own is this little fellow I found at a garage sale. Unfortunately, his beak fell off before I purchased it.

Next in size...is the one I purchased for my mother.

The larger one, my father bought a few years later for my mother..another christmas gift.

And the one from today, the largest yet.

And another video...
Anyone else have anything like this? I would like to see photos of such artwork if at all possible.
