Wishful Thinking
on: November 12, 2019, 10:52:30 PM
If you could have any tool from any other size SAK on your favorite size SAK, what would it be? For example, I was thinking that the orange peeler from the 74mm Executive might be nice on a 91mm model. Or maybe the cut and picker blade from the 58mm MiniChamp on an 84mm model. Either scale them up or down to the new tool or keep them the same size and fit them in somewhere. This is purely wishful thinking and a bit of a thought experiment, but I thought it might be interesting to see what everyone else might choose if given the chance.

I would want the cut and picker tool added to the Classic.
Fun thread, I'm sure I'll think of more, but I'm always wishing for the cut and picker tool in 58mm sized SAKs without having to pay for a retired Vagabond or a MiniChamp.

Hah, what a coincidence!  :o I was thinking about this very idea just this morning. Although I couldn't settle on any specific tool or tools, but yeah, the cut and picker and the orange peeler came up as candidates for me. I'll keep thinking. Well, there's one thing many of us want: scissors in the Cadet/84 mm line! I'd be okay with the one from the Executive or a Wenger style one as well.

I'd love to see a Compact with the corkscrew swapped for a Phillips.  Oh, and make it in Alox!

Ike582 and SirVicalot posted what I was thinking.

I actually have a Mod that puts the phillips in place of the corkscrew on a compact, but was thinking how this needs to become a standard offered model.

As far as the chisel tool, every since I got my Spirit, I’ve been wishing that there was some SAKs that offered the chisel tool maybe in place of the small blade.

That’s very easy...it’s my only con on the 111mm series...a magnifying glass needs to be added to the 111mm.
I just don’t understand why it’s not there...it seems to be a no brainer.

Would love a Cadet X.  I'd buy one in every color.

I'm going to answer a slightly different question !! Sorry    :(    :D

I want a 111mm Ranger - ie 5 layers: Blade, openers, scissors, metal file, wood saw

And of course another vote for scissors on the 84mm range
Although we do have the Delemonts

Since you started this....I'll have to add I'd like scissors in the Cadet Plus too.  A Cadet with scissors and a wood saw!  :tu:

I use the cut and picker blade for opening clamshell packs.

I did not know there was a Cadet Plus until your post. I just went to Sakwiki to see a picture of one. That would be a good idea to add scissors to it.

111mm Belt Cutter in a 91mm knife. Especially with the newer, more aggressive serrations on the Rescue Tool.

91mm and 93mm one-hand opening. Not something I really am a fan of on 111mm due to ergonomics (both my user 111mms are 2HO; a Fireman and Outrider)

91mm/93mm linerlock.

58mm scale-based flashlight.

58mm retractable pen.,

58mm Wharncliffe, replacing the pen blade.

And the layer of hawkbill/electrician blade, or just either of the blades, on a reasonably sized model. I think an XLT is overkill. I would personally not carry an SAK wider than a CT41.

I'd love to see the Spirit butter blade in 91 and 93mm and the 93m in line awl in a 91mm frame plus the hollow rivet available on every single alox model.

We have all these already - Don't we?  - EG The top two on the  Midnight Manager
Or do you want these on the 91mm?

And I guess the emergency blade is only available on the MiniChamp these days - when it used to be an option on smaller models eg the Classic

On the 91mm frame. Should have specified that better.
