So I'm looking at the two, hybrid is touted as the garden tool while vista is the hunting tool, but why is vista always more expensive than hybrid? I looked at the material/features but can't really figure out why.  ???

The sheaths are totally different, but I wouldn't think that would explain the price difference. :-\

May I ask why?

I have a Hybrid and find the build and the tool selection to be really good.  I have actually EDC'd it the last 2 days (and will do for at least a couple more) as they are great at opening those dreaded clam packs.

To be honest, I like the Genus the best. It is far better than the Hybrid or Vista!

The Genus does seem the one to go for as a serious gardeners tool, but I like the pocketability of the Hybrid and the Vista.

The one thing that puts me off of the Vista is the colour.  Why green on a tool which is to be used outside and very likely to be placed on the ground?

Yeah, I agree with you.. It would be ideal if the Vista was orange!! BTW, the Genus is very large, but I just love it! I love how the handle rotates, that's one of my favorite parts! Or, the diamond coated wrench!

I think a Hybrid coloured Vista with a replacable blade and spring with a diamond wrench would be a great model.  :)

Hmm, anyway a local place have vista on closeout for $48, and it's tax free on boxing day so I'll go check to see if they have any left.

Both the Hybrid and Vista are fine tools. My only complaint is that the knife blade is too small on both of them.  :-\

Although short, I am quite fond of the blade in general as I like the way you can put your thumb far down the spine and have good control.

Shame it's a chisel grind though.

Nope, the blade on the Hybrid is sadly a chisel grind.

I think the Vista is different though.

Man, I really don't want to manually reprofile any more knives. Maybe I should save the money toward the fallkniven A1 fund.

Great knife  :) , but like I say, I am sure the Vista isn't chisel ground.

The Hybrid knife is chisel ground intentionally, as it is expected to be used as a budding knife out in the garden. The Vista knife is completely different from the Hybrid, being a drop-point with combination plain/serrated edge.

Do you have the open-top belt sheath with your Hybrid Ben? The Vista's is much shorter. (intended to be used with the tool folded up) It has a top flap with a snap closure.

I do yes.  I can't say I am overly impressed with the clip.  :-\

The Vista sheath sounds like an improvement.  :tu:

Picked one up, cost about 40 usd with today's exchange rate. The knife is v grind thankfully, but I don't get why did they make it that small when there's enough room for a full sized blade.  ???

Meh, can't edit post anymore.

Funny, all implements are made with locking notch, yet no lock with the tool. Also came with the biggest box I've seen in a MT, almost as big as my 7" kabar's.

Yah, the Vista's way-shorter-than-it-needs-to-be knife blade really bugs me sometimes. :-\

On the Hybrid, the knife blade occupies the second position, where there isn't as much room. I don't think it could be any longer without interfering with the shears. But on the Vista the knife is located in the first position. It could be a full inch longer I bet!

Doesn't Def have contacts at Leatherman? Maybe shoot them an email and see if they have any reasoning for the short blade (I can't imagine an inch longer would cost them much extra).

Now that I have one thou, I'm not quite sure what to do with it since I neither garden nor hunt.  :imws:
