Gerber Recoil Autoplier
on: December 28, 2008, 11:12:34 PM
I'm becoming ever more interested in the more innovative designs that manufacturers have come up with. For example, I currently have Def's Gerber Flik here, and I like it, because it's not just another rehash of the Leatherman design.

I've a SOG Powerlock on the way, again because it's a bit different.

I'm now thinking of getting a Gerber Recoil Autoplier, and wonder what people think of them!

Thanks.
I used to come here a lot.

Sorry to go OT on the first post  :D, but don't you find the drivers are just pathetic though?

Back on topic :D

I aways thought they were a case of gimick over substance, but I'd be interested on your take on them once you've got a set  :)
Give in, buy several Farmer's!!!!!!

Damota has one that he carries a lot, i seem to remember him doing some sort of mod to it, possibly involving a Paul Chen tool.... i may be wrong though  It doesn't have a lot of other tools to it but it is an interesting design, i'd like to get one at some stage :)

Veering temporarily off topic....

Yeah, drivers are awful.

...and back on topic again:

That's what I want to find out about really, gimmick or useful! For starters, the fact that it's not simply "another LM clone" appeals to me. I suspect it will be like the Flik, in as much as I'll want to own one, but probably wouldn't use it much.

@Roadie - I think you and I are on the same wavelength. That's the word in fact - interesting! If I get one, I'll send it for you to have a gander for a few days!

They are bad aren't they.  :D

Anyway (moves swiftly on) I would be very interested in the Autoplier as I am keen on the Gerber plier design and I also like the fun element of the Switchplier.  The Autoplier combines both of these and it does look like a fun tool to have.  :)

Yeah Gerber aren't afraid to try new and different things are they, yes they may not get it right everytime but at least they give it a go :)

And that would be awesome of you! 8)

Eventually...

I am going to send all tools to Micky this year- he's the only one that makes certain all the tools I sent him come back!  Some of the others either couldn't find their way to a post office or became permanent parts of other members' collections!  :D

That would be a resounding "Hell No!"  :D

If you keep that one I'll have no recourse but to show Dunc some photos of your wife holding a banana so he starts stalking her too!   >:D

Trust me Dave, you don't want Dunc parked outside your house with a pair of binoculars 24-7.  I know this first hand.  :o :D
