Day 16

The 110 Pro makes short work of a hangnail...
How do you manage to balance the 110 while holding it near the tip?

I can trim meat away from the bone, but pretty certain I would just take the finger tip off if I used the blade to clean my nails!
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Day 16

No action, but I'm still enjoying the Challenge and liking this knife with me more each day
How does the 110 compare to the other Buck you found a few months back?

Great question LoopCutter, and one I've been thinking of myself, both are nice for different reasons
I'm seriously thinking I might like a 112 with synthetic scales and a pocket clip, sort of a hybrid I guess,
Here's a comparison shot of the 110 and Kingsman

Day 17:

Nice work guys!

Today I got a request for more hummus; the Buck 110 jumped into action.

The 110 sliced through lemons and garlic like a laser. Too easy.

So I decided to open a couple of cans of chick peas with the 110.

My technique appears to be different than Zoidberg's technique. I just jammed the knife into the can, and then proceeded to cut through the steel lid in long straight cuts. Looks like Zoidy levers the edge up and through the can lid in small bites. I basically used the knife to cut the steel lid.

And it showed.

I could feel the edge was a bit rough after opening the cans. Inspection with a 5x magnifying lens revealed that part of the edge was torn off. Not rolled. Not chipped. Just...torn away.

So.... After making a batch of hummus (fantastic!), I resharpened the 110.

In the interior light of the house, it looks like it has a mirror edge, but in bright sunlight I can still make out what I think are some faint OEM grind lines. (They could be my own grind lines, but they look a bit even for that to be my work.)

Regardless, this S30V takes a great edge and the 110 is now back to hair-cutting sharp.

I'll probably work on the edge a tad more before trying to shave with it again, but it's ready to cut up a chicken.  ....well, might need to be washed first.......

I wish I was in that group...but I’m not. Government has us listed as first responders so we can be out on the roads working and taking care of problems. And we are now collecting Hazard pay bonus for the next 8 weeks.
