Latin Fuzz Day 19

I've had mixed experiences with Maserin knives, some of them have been real shockers. This one however is superb - fantastic fit n finish with super-tight tolerances. I bought it for my brother one Christmas... he never used it.

(Image removed from quote.)

That's a gorgeous knife! You, sir, have a fool for a brother!

 :hatsoff:

Day 20

(Image removed from quote.)
I remembered growing up, young kids usually only had a few aspiration what they wanted to be when they grow up.  It was either policeman, fireman or astronaut.
Years later, the same question was posed to my college classmates in a foreign language class, and one kid told the class he had always wanted to be Gozilla growing up.  I still remembered sitting right next to him, and almost spilled my coffee that morning.

(Image removed from quote.)
ZT470, though I never like carbon fibre in knife scale, I do like what Sinkevich did with this design.   The fine lines along the chassis is very signature of Sinkevich design, and I felt it was a great touch to give it more class.

I'm not a ZT fan, but I love this one!

Day 20
I've always had a soft spot for hollow handle knives, specifically the Chris Reeve 1-piece knives.
I'm from the same area of SA as Chris Reeve,I met his father at knife shows a few times.
I've had 3 of those, all made in SA,a Jereboam (gift from my father which was passed on to my son),a dagger which I sold, and a saw back Jereboam.
This knife is an aviator style knife with a flat ground blade, made by a guy I used to train with.
Nice!

DAY 20
Loving all these knives.   Especially like the Chris Reeves style hollow handled knife!  (Love my Schrade SCHF2SM's just because of that design).  Today one knife I carried with me is a Kershaw Blur (hadn't carried it in a while, and stuff like this has me going into the collection and grabbing old reliable knives I'd forgotten about).  The only folders from Kershaw I've liked has been the Ken Onion line and the Blur's.   I've abused the green one pretty bad and it has taken it like a champ, but haven't really carried the S30V version (black) that much at all.  I think it was around the time I had bought my first Vic that I switch up my EDC from this green Blur to a Trekker (just because it was more useful on my job). I'm going to start carrying this S30V Blur for a while now as my EDC.

I have an old Blur that was my constant pocket companion on board ship for a few years.  It took a lot of abuse.  I do have a couple of the Ken Onion knives as well.  Since moving away from assisted-openers, I haven’t tried many Kershaws.  Those I did, I just didn’t like.  Some of the ZTs, I do like.

I’m not usually a fan of white knives, but that mother of pearl is nice

That looks like a nice quality knife.

The only hollow handle knife I ever owned was one of the cheap “Rambo” knives from the 80s which I easily broke.

Great looking Buck

Day 20

GEC 86 Oil Field Jack and a Case 6347 Stockman

(Image removed from quote.)

Nice pair of knives

Day 20: My humble collection of Leatherman Squirts.
Left to right: Squirt PS4, Squirt 4, and two Squirt S4.
My favorite is the PS4 as it has pliers and scissors, although the scissors are no match for the ones on the S4.

Nice collection of Squirts

Day 20 (Happy Spring Solstice!):

This is a fabulous folder from AG Russel, but a Bob Dozier design. No surprises, the 3.75" blade is made from D2. I love the long clip shape. The thumb stud is small--and fairly out of the way--but functional. It came with a pocket clip which has since been removed. The hollow grind makes for a sharp slicer with the kind of toothy edge you'd can expect with D2.

A few small details really make this knife for me: a small hint of an integral guard one the edge side of the blade, and a subtle, but very nice thumb ramp on the spine side of the blade. The mini-guard is nice as an indexing point--it's too small to be an actual guard. The thumb ramp provides excellent traction and confidence when applying some pressure to a cut.

The scales are a rough and grippy G-10 with steel liners. The liner lock is well protected, but can still be operated with one hand (right handed).

To my mind, Bob Dozier created a thoughtful and updated version of a Buck 110. The two knives are similar in size. The Dozier is a heavy knife, but is still just 67% of the weight of an average 110. I got this one several years ago and I'm not sure if this model is still made. I hope so, this is a knife worth having.   :tu:

Nice knife and review.

Day 20

Today is the Skeletool.  I find that the Skeletool is a nice compliment to a SAK, especially if you prefer a SAK to a full size pliers-based multitool but want pliers capability.  I added the Hammer/Jammer (designed by metropolicity), which makes it an even more useful tool.

The Skeletool is the dark horse of my assortment of MT's. It often gets tossed in a pocket or bag when I think it woul dbe a good idea to have a pliers-based MT along, but don't want to carry a full-sized MT.

A nice compliment to the EDC armory.  :tu:

Day 20.

Work carry today was the Spyderco Byrd Rescue 2, which is one of only two knives this southpaw converted to left-hand carry. Admittedly, I find RH carry for some odd reason works better, due to it being my weaker, and non-dominant side. It's just like how the Kabar in some WWII variants had a left-handed sheath, so a pistol could be carried on the right. I bought this for emergency use, and for work carry.  It is one heckuva cutter--I cut through bushes that were close to an inch in diameter today cleaning out the back part of our implement yard.

That brown stuff isn't rust. It's excess threadlocker that picked up dirt. I need to clean this one ASAP.

I tried looking it too, and the replacement seems to be a flipper with 9Cr steel.  I like this one much better, the newer one has the thumstud all the way out, and don't like a very good fliper neither.

I would describe it as probably being halfway between the two, depending on how old the bushes I was cutting were.
