Handsome slipjoint!  :like:

Paleo-Fuzz (again) Day 22

Another Neolithic flint, but this despite appearances is not an arrowhead... Does anyone want to hazard a guess?

Neolithic Star Destroyer?  >:D

Day 22, opening a new bag of cat litter

I once heard the saying, "Dogs are men's best friend, men are best Cat's slave."  Would you agree?  :D

Day 22
Today is a knife my Dad gave to me.  It was one of those TV limited run serialized specials and my Dad bought one for each of us children.  It was suppose to be saved because it might be worth something some day, but he didn’t say that when he gave it to me.  Being an active child with an attraction to knives, I thought it was meant to be carried and used.  Needless to say Dad wasn’t too happy when he discovered it being used and took it away for safe keeping.  I had forgot about it until as an adult my parents gave me a chest with various saved items from my childhood.  Now it is a shelf queen, not because I think it will be worth money some day, but more sentimental reasons.
(Image removed from quote.)
I am thinking if one day I gift my little one a pretty knife, will I "borrow" the knife back and return it when he has grown up...he was peeking in my cabin where I kept all my sharps, and I told him not now, maybe in a few years. :D

Day22
Machete Monday
Top to bottom

Aranyik extended latin pattern
I originally intended to remove the grips, regrind the tang and hilt it up like a hunting or pioneer sword.... obviously that never happened.

Cold Steel kukri machete from a past day

SOG Kukri machete, sawback

United Cutlery sawback columbian machete

Marbles mr374 sword machete

Aranyik etoh pictured a few days ago

Love the top one, looks like a fun chopper to play with. :like:

Day 22
My nasty wet weather jobs special,  the Gerber Gator. Not used as much as I'd like as it has occasioned comment on job sites so sits at home a lot of the time . Really love the handle on this, fills the hand and  the the clip point  blade really does the business for a big  knife.
That top one is really cool  :like:
 All these postings of Gerber really did get my attention, I used not to think much of it MT offering, apparently their knives seem to be a different story.
The Rotosphere is a pretty cool concept.  I don't know why it isn't more popular, but the supply is pretty scare and it took me a while to finally get one.

Neolithic trepanning - given the cure, the headache must have been awful....

Nice knives, everyone!

Day 23

Postie early today, so used my Victorinox 234k branded for Swissair to open up some packages - more modding bits for future use, 3mm brass sheet and some threaded pivots from Russia....

  I smell something delicious cooking!

If you're interested in a comparison to the Wave, this video is a very thorough and detailed review/comparison:

Show content

For $37.77, with a sheath, pocket clip, and extension, it comes in around $100 cheaper than the Wave for very, very similar quality, and in my opinion better functionality.

It's perfect for a gift for someone who is not into multitools or knives, perfect for gloveboxes, and also perfect for EDC (except for being a bit on the heavy side).  It's a great all-around tool and I really enjoy using it.

Charles.

On a stranger note, here are three that's pretty cool and strange.  The bottom Mikov fish slip joint I picked up from a trip in Europe couple years ago, the middle BODA fish knife I got from an ebay seller in China, and the top is the Le Theirs Rotosphere, which is a modern iteration of friction folder.

wow that Le Theirs is so pretty! :like:

Day 17: Ozark Trail Multi-Force

Show content
I missed yesterday, so I'm posting late. My bad!

I used this tool all day yesterday. It's heavy as balls, but it's a great tool and I prefer it to the Wave.  Why? The bit driver for starters. Full-size 1/4" bits is a big deal, there's a much larger selection of double-ended bits than there are Leatherman bits. I also prefer the way the blades open on the opposite pivot, so everything can be tightened and adjusted perfectly. This also leaves out a lot of complicated locks that Leatherman uses to ensure the blades don't open in pliers mode. With the blades on the opposing pivot... they just can't. No extra intricate lock needed. It comes WITH a pocket clip, a case, and an extension for double-sided bits.   Here is my EDC setup. I keep the extension and a rail of WiHa double-sided bits on a rail in a little mini sheath I got somewhere. That goes in my back pocket, and the Ozark gets clipped into my front right pocket.

Here's the bit kit all attached.

Here's the sheath and storage for the bit extension (I don't use this setup, but I do store it this way)

And here's the tool all opened up

Charles.

Sweet! :like:
Now let's have a BO version!

What kind of cordage is that? Looks quite narrow. I've only had clunky results trying to attach a lanyard by use of a shackle/bail made from a coat hanger or a factory example taken from an old electrician's knife. That kind would look (and work) so much better.

Nice Soldier and lanyard, I think in some way, it's even more functional than the bail, since the bail may sometimes get in the way when closing the blade.
