Day 26

Camillus 66 and new to me Challenge Cutlery Co. Bare head Jack. This knife I believe is now my oldest being close to a 100 years old or more.

Steve, great find, for a 100 years old knife, this knife looks exceptional.

Gec tae Fuzz!...  Day 26

My brand spanking new GEC Pemberton bought specifically for Dean's Memorial Callenge in just a few days time. It's cute, it's so teeny-weeny!  :tu:

Pemberton, love that little knife!

Day 26 (Happy Ratcatcher's Day!) :

Fuzzy got my inner Celtic warrior all riled up yesterday with his basket-hilted broadsword. So, today's carry is a take on the Sgian Dubh, the traditional utility/defense knife of highland rogues, border reivers, and bagpipers.

(Image removed from quote.)

This is a contemporary version made by Koyote many years ago. I had requested a Sgian Dubh from Koyote, we exchanged a few ideas and he made me a few versions.

This one has a 4" single-edge blade (with a bit of jimping on the spine.) and micarta scales. Koyote Girl made two sheaths for this one. One sheath is velcro'ed into the back pocket of a magazine pouch that rode on my web gear. I kept this on the front of my kit where it was readily accessible in an emergency or for routine use. A super-useful carry option. The second sheath is a small IWB sheath that keeps the knife discretely at hand. I believe 'Sgain Dubh' mean 'black knife', i.e. a hidden knife. The IWB sheath keeps Koyote's version true to the name. If it looks a bit worn, that's because it was. A lot.
Interesting shape for handle and blade, kinda remind me of a roman dagger.  Cool!

(Image removed from quote.)

 I bought that knife thinking it was a Barlow, which it is..but it had that Bunny Knife stamped in the blade, that kinda confused me a bit as i'd never heard of a Bunny knife before

Day 26: An interesting collection of SAKs that aren't what they seem at first.

On the left, the Premier.  Despite all the markings, this was made by Victorinox.
This is visually confirmed by the shape of the blade, the design of the combo-tool
and the scale tools (T&T). https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Premier

In the middle is the SwissBuck.  Sold by Buck Knives, it's just a Wenger with different scales.

On the right is a model from the Delmont Collection called the "Wenger".  This was
originally the Wenger Esquire, then rebranded as a Victorinox Executive 81 (stupidest SAK name ever?)
and now sold as the Wenger (model name) with Victorinox tang stamps.
Strangely the Executive 81 and Wenger are both for sale on the Vic website.

Oh, very good!  :like:

Another explanation for the dubh might be reference to bog wood that was often used for knife handles.  It's more than possible that it has double meaning.

Nice one Nixy.

Nice tools, especially the hole puncher...

Its a nice combo of size vs. utility. Big enough to feel "real", but small enough to conceal.  It has Tau Development's Striker Control Device installed, which greatly increases your margin of safety when reholstering.

DAY 26
Took my Deluxe Tinker with me to work today and it proved useful many times between the pliers and scissors doing wiring work.  Now it's popped the cap on a beer and I need to mow the lawn.   While at Tractor Supply today I saw 2 different CASE USA knives I'm going to buy this next week (and so it begins).  I'll be posting them soon, hopefully.

As far as credit card sized tools, I think this one does have some interesting and useful futures, and the blade is pretty good too.  It comes with a protective sleeve.

Hinderer XM3.5 and XM3, for the Gen6, I think it has finally resolved all the flipping problem from previous Gens.  Though it is still not the best flipper in the world, it now has decent flipping ability.  Overall I quite like this series, if only they could reduce the jimping under the flipper tab and handle, it'd be near perfect.
